Global Explorer

At the moment I am trying to figure a good cost effective way of organising a GLOBJ fare out of Fiji. Enquiries have led me to the fact that there is a Qantas desk at Nadi airport. I wonder if anyone else has organised such a fare out of Fiji before - or even has recent experience of maximising the value of the GLOBX product.

Any oneworld airline or any TA anywhere in the world can issue the ticket from Fiji. So no need to use the QF desk at the airport which wouldn't have a clue about this product anyway. So in theory you can use a South African TA who lets LA in Santiago issue the ticket ex Fiji.

Just call the AA RTW desk and let them do it. Will be much cheaper anyway as the fuel fines on AA are a lot lower than if issued by QF.

Eh? The xGLOBnn ticket is subject to the same "whichever is the higher price of origin or point of sale" rule as xONEn tickets. So, yes, anywhere can issue it, but the price may well be higher.

As an aside, I note an interesting consequence of S7 joining the GLOB ticket: for the purposes of that ticket "Europe-MiddleEast" is now defined to include the whole of Russia. I'm trying to get my head round what that might mean for xONEn tickets were the same to happen when S7 joins OW.

You are of course correct. I was thinking about *A which have dropped this rule. So for the purposes of the OP, he can either use QF or FJ ex Fiji to ticket or use a Canadian TA which still has the exception.
