19-segment DONE3!!
Hello fellow FTers... I need some professional (+ technical) advice from you guys.
Situation: Back in April 2009, I ticketed a 16-segment DONE3 in AA stock originating from ICN in mid-Nov 2009. Since ticketing, I was notified of numerous schedule change and now I have 19 segments, all of the changes being involuntary. As stated in xONEx rules, the ticket cannot have more than 16 legs so AA's sabre system cannot re-issue an e-ticket for me. Having seen an agent at LHR (I just happened to pass by one day), she advised me to issue the ticket after segment 4 so that at that time, there will be less than 16 segments left in the reservation and it would be ok. The problem: today I was notified of another schedule change in sector 3 (marketed and operated by AA) and I opted to take another AA flight without increasing the number of total segments. Question: since the first two segments are AA codeshare operated by JL, do you think the check-in agent at ICN will be able to check my luggage + issue boarding pass for the first 3 segments? Will they be able to issue paper ticket in AA stock AND understanding their need to waive the 16-segment rule due to invol? I would normally happy to speak with AA desk direct once I reach the US but my connection between segment 2 and 3 are really tight. Anyway, I still have 17 segments left after segment 2 so e-ticket is still not possible. What should I do and how should I guide the agents? |
Convert to paper ticket.

Thanks. Very direct and very simple. I like it. ;)
Is there AA (or agent for AA) ticketing desk at ICN? There are some crazy re-route (e.g. 1 segment of LHR-SIN now become 3 segments: LHR-HKG-NRT-SIN)... The telephone agent said there is no surcharge due to invol but I am worry the ticketing person may have a different view.:( How can I make sure I don't have to pay extra? |

Anyway, I wouldn't let this wait until you're in ICN. There is lots of potential for things to go wrong, so make sure to get the ticket reissued at least a few days in advance. If you transfer in the US, it won't matter much if your luggage can be checked through, as you will need to collect and recheck your luggage anyway. |
hehe... are there any other good option? :p
given JL's re-scheduling as announced on August 7th 2009, I believe I *may* qualify for a ICN-NRT-SFO. Apart from the boring ICN-HKG-SFO, are there any other way I can maximise my miles? Mind you I have an afternoon transcont to BOS to start from SFO at about 13:30:( BTW, is Neo Flat Bed on JL better than CX long-haul J? How are the snacks on NRT-SFO compared to HKG-SFO? |
