I saw the same link posted on another site . Interesting , to say the least , after all IT was just added at the beginning of this month to the Global Explorer fare which is often ( though not always ) a precursor to OW membership.

I always thought that they were closer to *A ( in spite of the fact that AI are supposed to be joining *A )

currently they are not particularly close to OW

When you look at 9Ws current partners for their FF programme

http://www.jetairways.com/EN/IN/JetP.../Partners.aspx

you can see that their current partnerships are as follows .

It also seems quite odd that they recently started a partnership with VS if they were looking at joining OW

Oneworld

AA CX KA QF - 4 partners

Skyteam

AF KL NW - 3 partners

Star

NH OS SN LH SA LX UA - 7 partners

non aligned

EK EY GF MH VS 4 partners

on a side note , it is interesting that 9W FF programme has 7 *A partners while AI only list one *A partner for their FF programme.

I guess time will tell whether the report has any basis in fact .

This is an interesting quote: "Earlier, Jet had resisted becoming a member of any alliance as yield per seat goes down with alliance partners since passengers come with discounted tickets."

In contrast, I remember Arpey stating to the financial community just how important revenues from oneworld are to AA's business...

Found this about IT talking to BA about a 49% equity investment--it looks like at this stage everyone is talking to everyone (if only to scuttle competitor's plans or aspirations).

had to chuckle to myself , before reading the linked story I wondered to myself how the hell IT in it's current state could contemplate buying at 49% stake in BA and what would that do to the BA/IB merger , now having read the story and realised that it was supposed to be the other way around I still have to ask how the hell could BA in its current state contemplate a 49% stake in anybody . Can you imagine the reaction from those employees who have agreed to forego a months salary if BA then announced that it was gambling money investing in a carrier in bad financial state ?
