oneWorld - Guam (GUM) ?

Hi...

Mainly a UAL'r but have a reasonable amount of AA miles we'd like to use to get to Palau (ROR) for a scuba trip. Haven't been able to get a good connection even part way on *A. Continental/Micronesia has about the only access to ROR and GUM seems to be the best launching pad. We'll need to book before the impending (hopefully) *A/CO joining this fall so can't wait til then.

I'm not that familiar with oneWorld site manipulation.... any advice on determining who flies to GUM? We'd be departing SFO

TIA

Pretty sure only NWA(via Japan), CO Micronesia, and perhaps JAL(?) fly to GUM.

The only airline serving ROR is CO Mike, you can get there via GUM or Manila.

I read of one person who suggested fling AA to Manila, then CO Mike to ROR and said they saved $$.

To my knowledge, AA doesn't fly to Manila...

flight service from MNL-ROR is pretty sparse (if I am reading the CO Mike site correctly) and unfortunately does not seem to match or arrival requirement (boat departs Sun mid-day and I'd like to arrive no later than Sat)

JAL is listed as service from NRT on the GUM Airport Wikipedia, but couldn't find it listed as a destination on JALs site

JAL to GUM would certainly work

Wait until CO joins *A then you might find life a little easier getting around this part of the world (as you can use your UA miles).

Hi coldfoot and welcome to the oneworld side of things. There is actually quite a cool tool which helps you to determine who flies where within oneworld. Have a look at this map:

http://www.innovata-llc.com/onw/default.asp?show=MAP

As you can see, JAL services GUM from two Japanese ports with 2 flights daily from NRT. One on a 744. So getting to Guam is pretty straight forward this way using your AA Miles.

You need to select "international" on the JAL site to get Guam as a destination.
