Rare travel tomorrow NRT-ORD in F. What is the best Oneworld F lounge in NRT?

BA CCR in LHR?

JAL F

1. Less frenetic.

2. Quieter.

3. Better and wider selection of food.

4. Central to everything but AA gates.

AC is good if you want the hustle and bustle, a way higher noise and DYKWIA levels, with sub par food, and be incrementally closer to your gate.

Both do have the automatic beer pouring machine, though. ^

In NRT, JAL is the best OW F lounge. En route NRT-ORD, in F, the "FT way", CCR in LHR T5 beats all others. To accumulate AA milage, as no access to T5 with AA T3 BP, go BA LHR-MEX, AA codeshare MX MEX-ORD, or for yet better milage AA MEX-MIA-ORD. BA LHR-YVR (BA F lounge) then YVR-ORD.

A little pain on time, lots of gain on lounges and miles. But you know the saying: No Pain, No Gain! ;)

All of the lounges in the main part of terminal 2 have been updated in the last year or two. I'd rank them as

JL > AA > QF

The lighting in the JL first lounge is very nice. One inconvenience I noted recently in the JL first lounge is that it seems the entire lounge space is designated no cell phone use.

There's not much of a difference between AA and QF. My experience has been that the QF lounge was busier than the AA lounge, but I gather there's been a dramatic decrease in JP->AU traffic in the last year.

The lounges out at the satellite gates for terminal 2 (the ones you take the people mover to) aren't anywhere near the standard of the main terminal ones. I've mainly used the JL lounge out there because for some reason it seems the easiest one to find, but I think the QF one might have been slightly better. Too many trips through NRT unfortunately (or fortunately actually :-)

The beer robots in the JL lounge in satellite terminal are still my favourite, because they look first generation (and I really like the laser foam guide that the newer ones seem not to have).

Some would consider this as improving the amenity of the lounge.
Happy, and quiet, travels. John (posting from SAL tonight).

I agree with the ranking, though I prefer to take my shower in the AA lounge and then head over to JL F.

The JL F lounge is indeed very nice, but gets quite busy at times (Tuesday afternoons, for example). Try a massage chair if time permits.

Am I allowed to use the NRT JL F Lounge when not travelling on JL in F if I am BA Gold (OW Emerald)?

serfty Mar 24, 2009 5:10 am

Certianly, as long as you are travelling oneworld.

The JL F lounge also often has Sumo on too.

And yet, people turn to other lounges? Unbelievable.

jal is nice, go for a foot massage for something different

I've only tried the sakura F lounge in NRT, but it was really nice (just yesterday in fact).

As soon as you enter, on the left you register for a message. Ms bottletop said the back massage was good - i got a foot massage (reflexology) which was really nice.

We were flying economy so we had a big yummy meal in the lounge (fish, roe, nice beef curry).

I noticed the bottles of moet were very popular, someone was there pouring themselves a glass the entire time, and that was before lunchtime! :)

Also, re the cell phones: There is a designated telephone call section just near the bathrooms, so you can still use your cell I believe.

Overall, very nice positive experience. Having recently tried Sydney Qantas F lounge, CX's F in HKG, and JAL's NRT, I'm hard pressed to pick a favourite.

Maybe Qantas Syd by a fraction because the wait staff taking your order from a great menu is really nice.

(And CX's buffet was superb on the day we were there).

Love the JL F lounge. I'd skip the "professional" massage though and just utilize the massage chairs where you can still enjoy your drink and some music. Those chairs are amazing.
