Korea Agent Suggestions for DONE3?
Hello All
I want to try the DONE3 from Seoul. Anyone have any suggestions on agents to contact in Seoul to have this issued? Or the AA desk in Korea? |
I just used the oneworld on-line booking tool on the oneworld web site.

Perhaps someone can provide the info you requested, but in the event they don't then perhaps the following will help (and others can do a sanity check for me while we're at it).
The first week of April I plan on booking with the AA RTW desk and when I do so telling them I am booking ex-ICN and will be purchasing in Canada at the YYZ airport. I will be booking the first 2 segments ex-ICN departing at the end of February 2010 with the remaining segments being open dated since it is too far out for booking, thus resulting in the need to issue a paper ticket. I will then fly to YYZ for a day, or weekend, and purchase the ticket at the AA counter at YYZ. The ticket will need to be priced out by the AA RTW desk a couple days in advance in order for the pricing to be valid since it is only good for 7 days. Others with experience doing this, please comment if you would be so kind. Thx. See post 32 in this thread for more info: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...pricing-3.html And also the following links courtesy of a search done by Serfty in response to a question I posed in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...n-10-sale.html |
easy
I purchased a DONE4 in November just before the online tool. I called the AA RTW desk on Thursday. It took all of five minutes to set up a 16 segment ex-ICN DONE4 for two. (I used mileage monket to vet the itinerary) I told them I would ticket in Canada. Called back on Friday morning to get the pricing from Dublin. All OK, so I hopped in the car and paid for the ticket in Montreal (I live in New Hampshire) on the same day.
ICN-HKG-ADL-MEL,HBA-SYD-SFO-BOS-DFW-SLC-DFW-BOS-LHR-FCO-LHR-HKG-ICN with a couple of long breaks in the US cost: $5,828 CA + tax $735 CA, in US$ $4,485 + $566 Very easy |
I hear you, but as the RTW from DONE3 from Seoul is is currently a USD fare of $3675 + taxes and from Cananda it is $6,656 wouldn't the higher of these two apply if it was issued in Canada? Maybe when you do it the exchange was more favorable
There must be someone with experience from purchasing from Seoul with a good agent to handle it...Perhaps christiep? |

Please read the thread at the link I posted above and again here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...n-10-sale.html - and I think you will understand. But to quote the rules and specifically the part bolded below that means you will pay the ICN price, not the Canadian price, when purchasing in Canada: Code:

If you book it and ticket it on-line, you get the ex-Korea price as well.

EX Korean DONE 3 Update/How long does it take?
Alright, I followed your advice here and used the on-line booking tool. I DID get the ex Korea fare and entered my payment details. I received an e-mail confirmation from Cathay Pacific saying that it would be issued as an e-tkt but now 24 hours have past and no official e-tkt. I called Cathay Pacific and they see the locator but don't know anything about the back end issuance
Does anyone have any experience here on how long it takes to get the e-tkt so I know this is done? |

When I asked about the time delay, the res staff said that it would be done in priority order with tickets close to departure date done first. |
Has anyone actually issued it with an AA GSA in ICN?
I heard they are quite slow and there are many restrictions in using them. I used AA UK to isseud my last ex ICN DONE3. But unfroutnately since the rule change this is NOT possibe anymore. |

Very true for e-tickets. But IF the ticket is open dated, which results in the need to issue a paper ticket, then unfortunately you are unable to book and ticket online. Now the OP has not indicated whether the ticket being booked is open dated or an e-ticket. But at least he is now aware of the options.

So don't do an open dated ticket. If you know yoru routing, just choose random dates and you can change them later for no additional fee. If you are using open tickets because you may change your routing, you're going to pay the $125 fee at least once anyway, so why not just pick random dates so you can use the tool. It's so much easier.

Why does your bank account have to be in Korea? Can I simply not just wire internationally like I would to any other bank account?
