AA ATW Desk & codeshares

Tried booking my first LONE4 today ex-SYD via the AA ATW Desk. Could not access the 1800 number from outside the US and the international number on the AA.com website (1 817267 1151) appears to have been disconnected. I tried the AA Australia office as a last resort. Any other international access number for AA ATW Desk I can use from syd??

Worked my way thorugh things with AA Australia and came up against a few hurdles straight away. I wanted to do the following:

dxb-lhr-yvr IB codeshare on BA metal with an extended stopover at lhr

The oneworld timetable lists IB7573 and IB7617 from dxb-yvr via lhr with no mention of a requirement for international online connection/stopover traffic only. I was looking to split these 2 'married' flights into allowing a stopover in lhr while still using the IB codeshare numbers (for QFF earn) but AA said I would have to use the BA numbers. Any other opinion??

The second issue is flying jfk-lax-syd with a stopover in lax of a week or so. I wanted to use the QF codeshare jfk-lax but was again told it would have to be the AA number if I was not flying onto syd the same day. The online booking tool did not have an problem with this but are AA correct?

See this thread on AFF:The AA RTW desk number is +1 800 247 3247.

Buy a $10 phonecard, this should be more than enough...

Serfty, you read my mind. I checked the thread previously and bought the phone card (even splurged on a $20 card) but I cannot access the 1800 US number from Sydney. I don't have skype either....

It's over a year now but I recall I had to be careful on how to enter the number ... there was some trick that I can't quite bring to mind ...

... maybe it's 0011 1 1800 ... or perhaps 0011 1 800 ...

See this thread
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...h-america.html

From Aus, the number to dial is (0011) 1800 247 3247

This trick did not work 12 months ago; you may wish to try it now on the normal A number and ask to be transferred to the ATW desk.

Thanks for the technical advice, will try it again tonight when Dallas reopens for us in Syd. Before I call them can anyone answer the query on the Iberia codeshare dxb-lhr-yvr and the qantas codeshare jfk-lax?

Both of those flights are restricted to online (IB-IB) connections.

Can't answer your question dierctly, but why don't you fly QF metal JFK-LAX (QF108)? I'm pretty certain that is allowed provided you fly QF when leaving the US - i.e your later LAX-SYD flight.

Thanks pandaperth, I was looking for an earlier arrival into LAX so never noticed QF108 was actually on QF metal, surely AA cannot knock that one back? Will happily spend a few more hours in New York to gain the extra QFF points on this sector.

Quick update on this one.

Spoke to the friendly operator at AA Australia (India) and she said she would put down QF108 jfk-lax but AA may reject it for ticketing. I said it was on QF metal and not an AA codeshare so should not be a probelm and my following sector a week later is QF12 lax-syd. She also believed as none of the long haul sectors (pacific or atlantic) were on AA they would not be interested in even ticketing it.

From other threads I've read AA were happy to ticket these if you dealt with them directly rather than via a TA. Was asked to call them back in 24 hours for pricing and the 'determination' from AA.

The AA office moved from from IndiAA to BrisbAAne in May last year (Thank Goodness).

Outside the U.S. and Canada, call +1 817-267-1151 and ask for the Around The World Desk
