FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

AS - Alaska Airlines
Announced by AA/AS on 13FEB20, AS intends to seek membership with an expected join date during Summer 2021 by the end of 2020.

Expected members:

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

And while JX may have had an ambitious plan last year, it could be very different post-Covid.

The Taiwanese government has provided some assistance to the airlines

I'm guessing AS' extensive partner network and a good IT talent pool in Seattle make it so they can get all the back end stuff done a lot faster.

They also use Sabre, like AA, and their acquisition of VX probably has left some decent expertise on hand re migrations and the like.

VX also used Sabre. That doesn't quite explain it though, as rest of oneworld all use Amadeus. Previous bilateral partnerships help, yes; GDS advantage, no.

No, JX isn't joining oneworld yet. They are not ready for it! Not yet.
