FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and
https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld

Expected members:

FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

I would rate Jetstar (JQ,3K,VF,BL) as a better chance than Air Pacific.
With competition into Fiji from DJ and JQ, FJ is going to struggle.

Would like to see 9W higher up the list.

And what about other UAE dark horses like GF (Gulf) who has codeshares with some

you forgot to mention US Airways

9W would be great for all the reasons already mentioned. I wish SN hadn't slipped to *A, either

I personally think it will take longer for Jet to make the decision.

Air pacific is in front of JetStar is based on speculation that QF members can earn Status Credit on any Air Pacific flights.

QF members have always been able to earn SCs on FJ flights as QF owns 46%, Fiji Govt 51%.

QF has publicly stated that it would like to add Jetstar to oneworldexplorer flights
http://www.travelweekly.com.au/PDFRe...ate=16_06_2009

Qantas is in talks with Oneworld to have Jetstar included in the alliance’s Oneworld Explorer fares. Rob Gurney, group executive Qantas Airlines Commercial, told the Australian Tourism Exchange in Melbourne the airline was keen to add Jetstar to the fare type.
The Qantas off-shoot is currently only available as part of Oneworld’s Global Explorer fare. “We are discussing that with Oneworld at the moment and potentially in the future Jetstar will be added to those products as well,” Gurney said.

Much like LX - I still remember getting excited when I heard they were joining, instead there is a relatively large hole in central Europe which I'm not sure Malev fills (although I haven't flown them...). For that reason alone, Air Berlin would be great.

Thanks moa. The secret about book agent is, if someone is hot choice, You know people will bet heavily on it...Thus you loose...But if you put the more likely target behind another most likely but more-or-less likely target, you have better chance to a profit.

ANother thing is Air Pacific is full service where as Jet|Star is self service.

As US was not part of the *A group who were granted immunity on TATL routes I would say there is a fairly good chance they might defect. Remember that up until US joined *A, they had very strong ties to BA, AA and QF. In fact a QP membership still allowed US lounge access until fairly recently.

Problem is that US doesn't add much to the gaps of OW. AS would be a better regional partner to fill in some of the gaps in the West Coast. Key routes such as LAX-ANC/YVR/SEA/PDX are missing.

I much prefer US's brand new A320 over AA'as horrible old crapy MD80.

There are serious holes on the SE of the US.

US would plug those holes nicely.

El Al--1/250
Air Pacific -- 1/500
JetStar -- 1/500
Ethitopian--1/500

Additional info:
1>, The candidate with lowest book rate may not be the first to sign up with OneWorld
2>, The candidates with odd over 500 should not be considered as possible OW members. However their position may change following unexpected news come into press.
3>, You should watch those between 1/500-1/1000 (exluding) closely.
