Changing first flights on XONEx from TC2/TC3
Hi
WRT the following rule;
"(b) Origin TC2/3
Unlimited changes permitted without charge.
Date/Time/oneworld carrier changes are permitted without reissue provided
Origin/destination/connecting points and inventory remain the same."
I assume that I can change the first flight from country of origin? If so, what I plan to do is book SYD-LHR on a 744 (no A availability on 388), but leading up to departure (even up to 1 day before), constantly check class availability for the A380 flight departing on the same day and then change the ticket then if available.
Does this seem feasible?

By the rules, YES, but in practice, NO!
Many GDS's seem to have inherent issues with changing the first (international?) segment of an itinerary and it basically cannot be done without a complete re-issue. While this should be FOC, there would likely be changes to costs in the base fares and/or taxes/levies/charges.
