Revisions to OW T&Cs

As published on cxagents. For me the most significant bit is the penultimate sentence - Alaska Airlines on Global Explorer makes that a lot more attractive for itineraries involving the US west coast and Alaska (especially in winter).

Code:

oneworld Fare Levels and Conditions Revise

Please be advised that following changes to oneworld Fare Products with immediate effect :

Paragraph 9, 15 and 16.

Paragraph 9 – wording amended from
'Unlimited free transfers permitted on the pricing unit fare break and
embedded surface sectors permitted on the fare component.
Note - subject to sector limitations.

 online/interline transfers permitted between
 AA/AY/BA/CX/IB/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/LP/MA/NU/QF/RJ/XL/4M.'

to 'Unlimited online/interline transfers permitted between AA/AY/BA/CX/IB/JC/JL/JO/KA/LA/LP/MA/NU/QF/RJ/XL/4M'

Paragraph 15 additional wording
'Rules not applicable extension of ticket validity not permitted'

Paragraph 16 Upgrading - new wording for point c.
'(c) Upgrading
1) An Economy class oneworld Explorer fare may be upgraded to a higher tiered
or First/Business class oneworld Explorer fare without penalty.

2) A Business class oneworld Explorer fare may be upgraded to a higher tiered
or First class oneworld Explorer fare without penalty.

3) A First Class oneworld Explorer fare may be upgraded to a higher
tiered oneworld Explorer fare without penalty.

4) Upgrading by sector to Business/First class is not permitted.

5) At any time the oneworld Explorer fare may be used as credit towards
payment of any higher fare type from the point of origin provided the
conditions of the higher fare type have been met. Reissued tickets must be
endorsed --NON REF/ XXX-- (XXX equals oneworld Explorer fare basis code)
and the original Non-Refundable amount remains Non-Refundable. If the
upgraded ticket is subsequently cancelled, the original penalty will apply.

6) At any time the oneworld Explorer fare may be used as credit towards a full
mileage fare or a Global Explorer fare provided the the conditions of the
fare have been met. No penalty will apply. Reissued tickets must be
endorsed --NON REF/ XXX-- (XXX equals the oneworld Explorer fare basis
code ) and the original Non-Refundable amount remains Non-Refundable. If
the upgraded ticket is subsequently cancelled, the original penalty will
  apply'

Global Explorer Fare
- Add Alaska Airlines (AS)
- Withdraw fares ex POM

Thank you for your attention.

Don't quite get the meaning of all this?

Para 9.
Is this a suggestion that airlines may start charging for interlining, but will be free on ONEx/GLOBx

Para 16.
Adds some flexibility (I think)

GLOBx Airlines
AS addition is a nice plus.

The inclusion of AS is fantastically bloody brilliant!

Too bad it has to be on AS metal (rules out Pen Air operated flights with AS code).

Holy moley!

This is fantastic news and makes me wonder if AS might be nudging closer to OW membership.

Over the past few years AS has been getting (too) cozy with Skyteam (DL, NW, KL, AF for EQM, plus CO) but the NW/DL merger plus CO's defection to Star may be signaling it's time for AS to enjoy some alliance benefits elsewhere.

Combined with MX (in the GlobEx for now, as a full OW member next year) the addition of AS opens tons of Mexican routes as well as west coast, Hawaii and Alaska ones. Great stuff.

Since a major announcement is about AS joining 1W RTW fare, would it be good to add it in the heading?

Nothing in that thread about AS joining 1W, only about AS joining the 1W Global Explorer product, making them one of several non-1W airlines available on this fare.
