Owerview of Oneworld Sapphire Status
Unfortunately much later than expected, I have finally finished the Overview of the oneworld Sapphire status.
I have uploaded the chart on my homepage (Click here). I have used the same layout for this chart I have used also for the Emerald Overview (FT Thread). If you have any suggestion or if you find anything wrong, feel free to post is. I am again looking especially for data on Malev and Royal Jordanian, since the information available on their webpages are not the most informative ones. But any form of feedback is highly appreciated since I am only Blue with BA. I am also open for suggestion of points I should change or highlight in the overview. I hope to finish the overview of Ruby in a couple of days. Jan |
Hi FLYGVA,
Great work following up on Sapphire. For JMB please find below some comments: Upgrade international : 3 SWU Lounge access : Y (no transferable coupons initially provided but are available for 4k mls / 2 coupons) Validity of points : 36 months Others : can apply for JGC membership |
KIXman, thanks for the feedback. I have updated the chart and also mentioned the Platinum challenge for AA
|
FLYGVA, :) ^ for your initiative, helpfulness and generosity.
For CX Gold, I would also add among the 'benefits':
|
Nice work FLYGVA,
Just one thing I noted on the QF section, The Qantas Club 'open door' policy only applies to QF Platinum (OW Emerald) card holders. QF Gold (OW Sapphire) do need to be flying to access domestic Qantas Clubs. Otherwise it's a really handy reference, thanks for putting the time into making it happen. Cheers, inasmuchas |
FLYGVA - top effort mate, cheers! :)
Just a correction to the AA status bonus. Apart from flights on BA, flights on the following carriers will similarly not accrue the 100% status bonus: - Japan Airlines - Malev

For all my nitpicking, Cathay seems to take their OW commitments more seriously, going above and beyond the published rules for OW elites, than QF or BA. ^

Please see below:
Should be CX and not CA on the Cathay Pacific section. Iberia's 6200 points probably has a different acquire time frame? Sorry I don't know the real value, but I don't think that looks right. |
Domestic Qantas Club is only open door for Platinum (Emerald) NOT Gold (Sapphire).

Thanks for the input.
I will update the chart as soon as possible |
The chart is updated.
Thanks for your input |
JMB update
Some updates for JAL Mileage Bank that will become effective come Apr.2009.
A big devaluation from 2008 and even more complexity!:td: Upgrade domestic / continental / international (one way / one class) JMB Sapphire / JGC Sapphire 20 upgrade points + 2 upgrade points per 10K fly on points (FOP) OR 10 flights after qualification *Upgrade points required for: domestic : 2 points international : 5 to 12 points depending on class and route |
I have updated the overview.
Since JAL is again very complicated, if might be worth if someone with a deeper knowledge of the programm may doublecheck it. Just out of curiosity, what happens, if you reach during a year the next membership level? I assume, you will only get the FOP off the highest level reached? |
I have updated the thread with Mexicana and also the news in the AY program (sorry for the delay).
I did not find anything about higher baggage allowances for MX elites like other ow airlines offer for their own elites. And possible hidden benefits for the mid tier are a bit difficult to find :D - if there are any. As everytime, you input is much appreciated, esp. since it took me a bit longer than expected (it was scheduled for November 2009). Of course, a look at the other program is also much appreciated. Thanks |

I have updated the overview with S7 and the data I found on the web.
I searched for t&c but found only the ones in Russian Language; I am not sure about validty of miles and if you do not need four flight on S7 for (re)qualification beside the S7 only flights requirement. |
Thanks for S7 update ^
I see RJ still not offering elite bonus. |
Update
AirBerlin joined Oneworld Alliance this week and Malev is grounded since a couple of weeks now, so it was time for another update.
As usual available on my homepage (http://www.hotels-and-travel.de/ffp/...w_sapphire.htm). Let me know in this thread, if anything is wrong or I have forgotten something. |
Hi FLYGVA,
Please update JAL to show the new stricter requirements for status, and also to show that JGC Crystal and plain JGC members are OW Sapphire: Miles / KM / points need for status [Year / 12 Month] [50 k pts. including 25k pts on JAL flights, or 50seg + 15k pts. including 25 seg on JAL flights (JMB/JGC Sapphire) [30 k pts. including 15k pts on JAL flights, or 30seg + 10k pts. including 15 seg on JAL flights (JGC Crystal) Automatic OW Sapphire Status if JGC member Miles / KM / Points need for requalification [50 k pts. including 25k pts on JAL flights, or 50seg + 15k pts. including 25 seg on JAL flights (JMB/JGC Sapphire) [30 k pts. including 15k pts on JAL flights, or 30seg + 10k pts. including 15 seg on JAL flights (JGC Crystal) Automatic OW Sapphire Status if JGC member Also for upgrade domestic / international benefits, JAL is completely removing the upgrade points program, so instead we have the following: Domestic: 4k pts for 6 coupons International: none |
Like for the Emerald Status last weekend, I have now updated the the Sapphire Status with the addition of MH. I added also the Finnair Lifetime status and the adjustments to the upgrade instruments.

update with QR
Sorry for the delay regarding the last updates, but I have been busy with a new position at work and thus the last update with Qatar Airways is a bit delayed.
The Sapphire Status Update is now live, added QR and deleted Mexicana. I did not find any information about the number of QPoints necessary for an upgrade, since you have to log and holding this status. Since I do not have status with QR I am unbale to get this kind of information. Maybe someone can share this information or direct me to a link here on Flyertalk. Is the Al Maha Service free if you have QR Gold and it this only valid if flying QR (I think so, but could not really confirm it) I had also a quick lock at the other FFP but most certainly have missed something. I have also added the table heading at the bottom and did some minor changes on the layout. http://www.hotels-and-travel.de/ffp/...w_sapphire.htm Let me know, if there is anything wrong. FLYGVA |
I have updated the Sapphire comparison chart with the next oneworld member US Airways, SriLankan and TAM.
The chart could be accessed on the FFP b/ FGP section of my homepage: http://www.hotels-and-travel.de/ffp/...w_sapphire.htm The TAM information are a still mixed up. If you click on the TAM page on http://www.tam.com.br/b2c/vgn/v/inde...000b61990aRCRD you see the TAM Fidelidade VERMELHO PLUS information mentiong Sapphire Status but the exmpale card has the Emerald oneworld logo. This page (http://www.tam.com.br/b2c/vgn/v/inde...=PagInterna_EN) still has is as Star Gold though  And I had asked my sister in law, who speaks Spanish fluently but she did not get any kind of information I wanted, but she is on the other hand not so deep into frequent flyer programs. In so far any kind of input might be helpful (I assume it is Sapphire, but not sure) Thank you FLYGVA |

Re JGC, sth KIXman might hv left out or changes made after his last post: COS bonus is now for all asia-pac flights =1,5; as opposed to HK and china earlier. Bonus for elite is 105%, for ba, aa and jal. And 1 last thing "20 upgrade points + additional 2 pts for every 10k FOP or 10 segments after qualification [1]" is all but gone. Its just by miles. 10000(oneway to/from korea y-c upgrade)-110000 (return upgrade zone asia2 to NA) |

[2] If one has once qualified for JGC, one is at least JGC Crystal. The only thing is, one has to pay 5k miles for the membership fee, or accure 25000 fop on any oneworld metal --> one is at least OW Sapphire. Not necessaily crystal. You wo t get the bonus miles/fop etc |
I have updated JAL, but this is still a rather complicated programm
