global explorer questions

Sorry I am new to this type of tix

If I am flying LAX/ORD/DUB and simply connecting in ORD, Can I take the non stop mileage calculation of 5140 miles or do I have to take the 5400 mile calculation.

Also if I were to start a Global explorer fare in Lima , Peru, do I actually have to return to Lima or can I finish in another SA city?

Anyone know if the fares listed on OW web site, include any taxes etc?

tks

  • It's the total sector distance, including 'land' segments. So the higher.
  • Starting in Lima you must finish in the county of origin.
  • The fares displayed are the base fares, +++ have not been included.

Thank you- sorry forgot to ask.

So you have to book the first segment and you can apparently change dates for subsequent segments, but do you actually have to specify your exact routing at time of purchase and if so can you amend this later on?

tks

The rules are here:

http://www.oneworld.com/content/libr...rule_sheet.pdf
  • I believe in practice it's the first international and preceding segments.
  • The routing needs to be specified (otherwise how could you determine distance ;)) along with stopover/transit construction. It may be possible to have open segments but may simply be easier to book the dates / time you are most likely to travel and change if desired later.

That U Star file is old; the S. America exception was discontinued earlier this year. Same goes for OW Explorer. See the .pdf referenced by Serfty above.
