Oneworld question

What is the difference between a oneworld award and an award from a specific member, such as AA?

Thanks.

No such thing as "oneworld award" from oneworld. Every airline freq flyer program has its own awards. Some are called "oneworld award". You need to look at each ffp

Many airlines within OW call awards which are not operated by them but by one or more OW partner airlines "OW award".
This name is not a OW product or endorsed by OW and means different things for different FFP.

The confusion largely stems from AA offering an award called oneworld. As noted above, this is their name for it and is not something offered by the alliance. BA - for example - have no such award in their FFP.

CX Asiamiles has 'Oneworld Award Chart' for "miles requirement on flight awards involving two or more oneworld alliance airlines".
IMHO, just a chart name, not an award name.

It isn't just AA that has a certain award product called "One World Award". As mentioned above, each FFP has it's own rules and redemption rates for this award - it is not a OW standardised product.
