Valid Global Explorer 26k routing?
 

Hello!

I did LONE4 couple years ago and got some awesome tips from FT, so here we go again :)

This time I'm planning Global Explorer 26k trip but I'm having hard time understanding the rules.

Would this be valid routing and under 26k? I have no idea how to calculate the miles? :confused: Can I do short stop (under 24h) in all connection points?

HEL-CDG (connection)
CDG-DFW (connection)
DFW-LAS (stopover)
LAS-SFO (surface)
SFO-HNL (stopover)
HNL-SYD (connection)
SYD-AKL (stopover)
AKL-HKG (connection)
HKG-PVG (stopover)
PVG-NRT (stopover)
NRT-HEL

Great circle mapper calculate the miles as 28870 :(
You need to remove a few airports

A LONE4 may be a better option

It means that connections and transits are treated as nonstops. I can't personally confirm that's correct but if correct that is what it would mean.

Would it cut down the total mileage of my trip?

If not, maybe I can change SYD to NAN and... Any good ideas?

Wikitravel is in error. All miles count, including the miles for surface segments.

Agreed. Treatment is identical for OW and *A.

In both cases single flight number mileage is used. So LHR-(BKK/SIN)-SYD without an en route stopover and booked as a single flight number uses mileage for LHR-SYD ignoring the transit. However book as 2 flight numbers or with a stopover and each flight's mileage is used.

Ok, this is now very close: HEL-CDG-DFW-LAS-SFO-HNL-NAN-AKL-BNE-NRT-PVG-HEL.

One other question - have you counted your allowed stopovers? Maximum of 5 for the whole trip, no more than 2 in any one region (continent.) Looks to me like you've got big trouble on that front. You might want to look seriously at an LLONE4 originating in the UK which is close to the same price as a GlobEx 26K mile trip originating in Finland. Fiji would have to go, but you'd have some extra segments to play around with in N. America, Australia or Asia, not to mention 2 stopovers within Europe.

According to great circle mapper this should work for you.

Wow! Very good routings, now I just have to choose one. Problem solved! ^

I think I will go with Global Explorer ticket this time, because I don't have much time to complete this trip ...and I have to pay 4 tickets ;) 5 stopovers is good, because if there is more allowed, then I must use all. I don't want to waste any stopovers :)

Someone ever flied that HNL-NAN route? Any survival tips? I mean, red-eye, 7 hours, 737, economy ...I'd rather go to the dentist! But you get what you pay for :D
