Malev booking and AA miles
Hi all,
Quick question - if I book a Malev flight through Vayama or airfare.com can I still get AA miles? From some of the posts I have seen I may have to book through AA to get the miles.
Thanks,
Colyer

It depends on the fare class. The cheaper MA fares are consolidator tickets and don't earn FF miles (in any plan); but this is not unique to MA, most consolidator tickets are like that. AA.com sells no consolidator tickets, but might sell fare classes that earn no miles (but probably not); similarly for other non-consolidator ticket sources).

This is probably true for all such sites, but I would be particularly careful with a vendor like Vayama. Recently I purchased a short hop trip on JAL through Vayama, and the fare rules which they gave me were labeled YKJL. When I looked online a bit later, though, I saw that I had been booked into H class. I still haven't gotten a straight answer about what went wrong (if anything at all.) But buyer (who is interested in frequent flyer miles/points) beware.
