Ticketing DONE x JNB first leg on BA
Quick one - I hope! Does anyone have any experience ticketing a DONE from JNB on BA.
I arrive on the QF code share from Perth at approx 530PM, and want to connect through to LHR without stopping over and am hoping can arrange for an e-ticket through the BA ticketing office in SA. Am QF Plat, but if ticket in AUS QF will assess the ex-AUS fare (just double checking on that now, but that is my interpretation of the rules. - Plat desk is calling me back this afternoon) Many thanks! |
No experience with ticketing through BA (no matter what the location) but why don't you ticket through AA which will save you hundreds of $$$? There are many threads in this forum about ex JNB AA ticketed xONEx's.
And yes, QF would charge you the ex AUS price. |
As I am slowly beginning to understand it does not really make a difference what airlines sells you the xONEx since it is a OneWorld product, not an airline product.
So today I mailed AA in South Africa to book a DONE4 with no flight on AA metal and no stops in the USA. I want them to use my BA EC# for all my flights. I am very curious what the reaction will be. I will keep you posted. Suggestions are of course welcome. |

On the other hand, Qantas happily charge (and keep) YQ surcharges on every segment of an itinerary, whether it's their flight number or not! Compared to Qantas, Booking via AA has saved me $700+ on each of two ex Oz LONE4's this year alone. |
Well, there goes my understanding... :) Back to the drawing board. I am currently in the process of ordering a DONE4 out of CPT. Do you mean that AA will actually be cheaper than BA? That is very weird...
|
Yes, AA will be cheaper by hundreds of Pounds, Dollars, Euros etc. And hundreds of thousands of Korean Won.
The difference is fuel fines. While BA will charge you an arm and a leg for each segment, AA will only apply minimal surcharges at all. Yes, the ticket price is the same for this fare but the "taxes" make a gigantic difference. It is the same by the way with Star Alliance RTW tickets. They should be ticketed through UA. |
Ok, my request has now been forwarded to AA in SA. I still worry they do not want to ticket me at all, since no segment is served by AA. I will keep you posted about the price difference!
