trying to get to MRU from Asia
Does anyone know if it is possible to get to MRU from asia (preferably SIN) on a ONE or global explorer ticket.
It only seems to be possible if I go to Jo'burg or through London and I am traveling West from Asia and don't want to burn too many segments or miles. I thought it might be poss via the middle east somehow but I guess that would burn up the middle east/europe continent and won't work if I go on from MRU to LHR. Can anyone help? Thanks |
Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, except to rue that OW is extremely week in Africa and Asia (except far east), the two regions that surround Mauritius.

Westbound, seems to me that the best way on OW is SIN-HKG-JNB on CX, then JNB-MRU on BA. You could also, of course, go SIN-SYD-JNB (QF), but much more time and money. And, if you don't care about the OW mileage, then SIN-JNB on SQ, JNB-MRU on BA, for only one cnx instead of two.

As an alternative, Air Mauritius flies direct from SIN (and HKG) so you might be able to get a deal there.

On a Oneworld routing the only way to go straight from Asia to Afrika is HKG-JNB. Period. Detours via SYD or LHR would just burn up miles.

Hkg-MRI on MK is rather reasonable in C class.
I see airfares from 830- 900 USD. And the USD is weak now. IF I were you I would look for a cheap fare to HNK and link up With MK. HKG-MRU is a long flight in coach. Cheers! |
OPS HKG-MRU.. ( HIC.... happy hour)

Note that the current rules indicate that Transoceanic surface sectors between TC2 (Europe/Africa) and TC3(Asia/SWP) are permitted (for any origin). Intermediate surface sectors are permitted at the passenger’s expense. Transoceanic surface sectors between TC1-TC2 and TC1-TC3 are not permitted.
EXCEPTION: For travel originating in the South West Pacific, one transoceanic surface sector between TC1-TC2 or TC1-TC3 is permitted. |
