Lan Premium Business

With LAN having converted 15/22 763 and the a340's due to be done late 2008 into premium business, and thus a blended first and business how does this affect Done and Aone, I wonder as I have a Done4 booked with three Lan Chile flights and was assuming that I would get premium business would that be correct?, whilst effectively those that have booked Aone will be downgraded to better seats, but lower earning for points/status credits?

Lan actually sounds like it will have a very good product with full 180 degree beds, so could be a better option to south america from australia than the qantas flight to buenos aires? similar miles and same status credits, but better connections to the rest of south america

any thoughts ?

Regards

The LAN Premium Business hard product is IMO the best J seat within OW. Acres of pitch, fully flat, 15.4" widescreen with AVOD that works. Big fluffy pillows and duvets - the best nights sleep aboard an aircraft i've ever had was LAN J MIA-SCL.

Catering left a little to be desired - far from the excellent reports of old that spoke of some of the best catering in the air.

QF has a very comfortable seat for lounging but just doesn't work for me as a bed. I had a fitfull nights sleep on my only QF longhaul experience on SYD-LAX-JFK and I generally have no problems sleeping anywhere - think my record is about 18 hours of sleep in whY SYD-LHR, mind you lack of sleep for 72 hours may have helped, perhaps it was more of an alcohol induced slumber!

Catering and service were both excellent, albeit I have a very small sample number i.e. 2 legs! I prefer a much more casual style of service which I think QF do very well whilst remaining professional.

Its a tough call, but I think the LAN Premium Business would edge it for me.

I agree with sdorling that LAN J has the best J hard product in OW currently.

Not a huge thing at all, but worth remembering that the 763s only have restrooms on the left side of the plane. If seated on the right side, you're typically having to either inconvenience sitting FAs or displace f&b carts (or, hopefully not, jump over other J passengers) to cross over to use one of the two restrooms.

Also worth remembering that SCL has a separate security area for J passengers immediately beside the J check-in area at the far end of the airport. It may have been sheer coincidence, but each of the 3 times we used it this past January/February there was literally no-one in line in front of us, which made it an extremely valuable J perk.

I agree, LAN's new J seat is top notch. Overall service is consistently good and the wines are some of the best I've had on board a flight.

That check-in room usually doesn't ever have more than a wait of one person in front of you. Also, the departure migration "line" right next to there is a big time saver during peak evening departure times.
