DONE4 crediting to AA, am i correct in my thinking?
Ok, i've been looking at the AA site and at various itin's people have suggested.
If i book a DONE4 that combines flights/segments that takes me say 60,000 miles and i credit it to my AA account it will in theory net me 60,000 miles plus any COS bonuses that each airlines offers, but more importantly it will give me 60,000 x1.5 = 90,000 Qpoints? If i connect my first flight on the DONE4 with a feeding flight from the UK and vice versa at the end using say a LHR-DXB-LHR then that should get me another 7k x1.5 = 10,500 points bringing me to a total of 100,000 q points thus requalifying for EXP? I know this is simple stuff to a lot of you but i just want to check my thoughts before i start thinking crazy things. IF this is true then a well optimized DONE4 will allow me to retain my EXP during next years qualification time. Thanks, Chris |
If you fly 60,000 miles in business class, then yes you will get 90,000 qualifying points
If you then do 7500 miles in business class , then that will cross the 100k threshold (obviously this assumes that you don;t have anything that is ineligable for mileage earning such as using BA on a UK-US flight ) Dave |
My plan is too use LHR-LAX as my AA over water earning flight and then go around NA and then fly YYR-JFK on CX and then have another seperate flight JFK-LHR-JFK on AA to split up the RTW a bit.
Unless you think it would be possible to get a LHR-YVR on BA J and then book into JFK-LAX-SYD as AA flight numbers? Chris |
LHR-YVR is reasonably easy to get. And booking on AA flight numbers is also possible. I have done that many times, not between SYD and LAX but between HKG and JFK.
Just make sure that you book before June 1st to take advantage of the 20 segments. |
Unfortunatly $$$ and my slightly unknown schedule for next year has meant that i will be booking in Sep/Oct this year thus limiting to 16 segs! :(
Would like to book with 20 but it just wont work for me time wise. It's good to know that LHR-YVR on BA is easy to get. How easy is availability on YVR-JFK on CX? Chris |

It's good to know that LHR-YVR on BA is easy to get. How easy is availability on YVR-JFK on CX? Note that 2-class AA domestic flights book into A on DONEx fares, so earn a 50% class-of-service bonus compared to the 25% in D that you'd earn on YVR-JFK. One other thing to remember if you're starting in Sept/Oct - if you're using the DONEx to try to hit EXP via qualifying points (which is quite doable) don't forget that the 100K Q-pts have to be earned in the same calendar year. So if your plan was to have the RTW span over 2008-2009 your points would reset to nada on 1/1. |
Thanks for the info, i will be booking it in Sep/Oct to start in Feb/Mar and it should all be finished by Oct/Nov the same year so all the points will be in the correct qualifying period.
It's good to know that availability isn't too hard on the YVR-JFK route and that AA dom flights book into A. That will help my miles considerably. If it gives me 100% and then 50% COS bonus what will my EXP bonus affect? I guess it will give me 100% of the original miles flown and not 100% on the original miles and the COS miles? Chris |

Well i'm just finishing my degree and as such i don't have enough cash free to drop on a RTW right now. I'm going to work for a few months and pay of a few bills and then splurge the £4/5k on the trip. I wish i could book it soon to take advantage of the extra segs but i just can't get the cash together in time unfortunatly! :(

FT does not advocate going into debt to surrender to your frequent flyer addiction. :)
Maybe grandma can give you the cash before the end of this month... I could get some money from the parents but i'd prefer to work for it and do it that way. They have already paid for my entire education so i figure i should get my arse into gear and work and pay for it myself! I'm sure sitting there drinking champagne will feel even better if i know it's come from hard work! :D Chris |

Is the above assertion correct??? On DONE0X I know one gets 1.5 Q-points for every AA-metal mile flown. But I thought on partner airlines the Q-points were 1.25 for J and 1.5 for F. Am I wrong?

Just to add to this rather than starting a new thread, what are the best tools for searching for availability on Oneworld?
I know with *A you have got the great NH award tool but what are the options on OW? Chris |
