Application of new *ONE* rules
 

I was speaking with the AA RTW desk to confirm my ticket info for my Saturday pickup of my DONE5, and the agent I spoke with mentioned that they're currently debating (within that office, I guess) whether someone who purchases a *ONE* ticket prior to June 1 would be able to reissue it as a 17-20 segment ticket after that date (e.g., if it was issued as a 20-segment ticket, the passenger flew one segment, and then did a routing change). Presumably there would not be a problem flying four segments, and then doing a reissue as an e-ticket, but I think her point was that AA won't reissue any paper tickets after the June 1 deadline. This probably doesn't affect many people, but just fyi.

I think per their own rules... The rules apply as at the date of purchase - that has always been the case. Don't see why the 17-20 should be on any difference.
(although agree the IATA deadline for eticketing may mean that a 17-20 remaining segment ticket could not be physically uissued)

Just curious if you (or someone else) knows what *A will be doing about this same issue now that they are on the 16 segment rule as well.

I may post something about it over on that forum tomorrow because I have a couple of other questions, but since it came up here for OW I thought I'd ask.

I think you answered your own question. If there is not a physical means for reissuing the ticket, then how could it be done? I guess if someone decided that they just *had* to do it then they could break it into two separate etickets and handle the back-end settlement issues for the handful of tickets affected.
