Advice required?
I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I decided on the Oneworld xONE6 months ago based on being able to see Easter Island; however, when I called AA rtw desk last week I couldn't get any flights booked? We wanted to travel to Easter Island in mid September for 2/3 days on our way to Australia.
We are flying on discount tickets (myself, wife and 2 children). AA couldn't find any flights on their system (L class) at all for any month during the year. They told me to book the ticket Open and see what happens? Getting stuck on Easter Island could be quite expensive and somewhat boring after a couple of days let alone weeks! Should I call LAN airlines and book the ticket with them? If I can't get the flights to Easter Island I would really consider alternate ticketing arrangements......maybe a directional rtw fare and then subsequent side trips ontop. Any suggestions?? IF you are unable to get any bookings at all on your OWE (something that bears checking again) then one possibility is the pass sold on lan.com, which last time I looked made it possible to go to IPC for a lot less than the normal fare. Are you flexible on your mid Sept dates? I'll take a look at what's available. Keep in mind, however, that mid September is VERY high season in Chile, and that is, perhaps, the reason for the non availability.

I just looked for mid Sep L availability on EF and it shows wide open (L9) on most days.

Thanks for looking. Would late August/first few days in September be OK? We are trying to change the first half of our trip to accomodate IPC. It would be easier for us to move up a couple of weeks vs. move back. What does EF stand for? My wife and I thank your for your help!!! |

EF stands for Expert Flyer, a paid service. However, for L availability you don't need a paid service; just use of of several free tools. Here is one:

How is the Oct-Nov time frame for seats, award or paid, for the SCL-IPC flights?
As for awards, it's hard to say; one can easily look it up on lan.com but what LAN sees is not necessarily what other airlines will see in their system. Right now there is some but not a lot. |
