Sea-mru

I need to go visit a friend in MRU on pretty short notice. Never been there, and just found out how long the flight is out of Europe, and not looking to doing it in coach (unless I could get exit rows), especially not both ways. I don't want to pay the $10K-$20K for a business class RT.

I have always wanted to do a RTW, figured out routings, but know almost nothing about booking and rules. I have heard that MRU is one of the cheaper places to buy a RTW from. I also go to TBS frequently, and could stand a trip to JER or GCI now or later. I want to take someone on a RTW with me someday as well.

Is this the time to start a US or Canada originating RTW? Or originate somewhere else after repositioning? Or start one here and another in MRU?

ANY ideas? I am all ears and really need to develop some strategy soon.

Well, without getting into the personal details of cities you may wish to visit and why, the best place to buy a *ONE* ticket depends on class. Until recently, MRU has been the least costly for first class tix, but has been replaced by South Africa, due to the nosedive of the rand. Note that if purchasing in Africa, you must by a four continent ticket. Unless you are completely price insensitive, you don't want to purchase tix in US or Canada, as these are two of the most costly places to purchase, regardless of class of travel. The LHR-MRU non-stop leaves LHR in the late afternoon, so I'd certainly think about overnighting to LHR and connecting. Also, consider using points for a one way ticket to MRU, then buy your RTW ticket there.

You can correspond with BA MRU at [email protected]. I always make my reservations by e-mail that way.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride !!!

But the OP could purchase an ex-MRU xonex (actually ex-anywhere) at the ex-MRU price from Canada.

in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted to the currency of the
country of sale at the bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from the country of sale.
Exception: Not applicable for sales made and/or travel originating in Canada
