What's wrong with starting in Indonesia?

It appears to me that currently one of the lowest cost places to begin a DONEx or AONEx is Indonesia --based on the official OWE fare site (assuming it is up-to-date). In fact, I’d venture to say that it is the cheapest place to begin a DONE3 or AONE3— can anyone suggest a cheaper place? There was a thread back in mid-2006 about starting in DPS but I haven’t noticed anything recently about using DPS or CGK as an origin. And CGK has the advantage of having first class service to HKG. Why the neglect?

I've never pay much attention to xONE3's partly because of their significant (to me) limitations. Then again if the saving is large enough they are worthwhile, so I probably should look at them more often.

DONE4s there also seem cheap.

The lack of an AA presence in Indonesia rules that option out somewhat for me. And I do need the AA ticket stock to get my upgrades on the AA segments.

Unless I get my head around that Canada rule and deal with AA Canada to issue the booking. Or a competent Indonesian TA.

With no AA agent (apart from the Canada option) think you are limited to CX and JAL for ticketing which probably adds the +++ to Phillipines look better

I was going to mention the Phillipines. Anyone have experience in ticketing OW products ex there? Does the AA GSA do e-ticketing? Can you pick up at the airport? Or do they require you to personally pick up the paper tickets from their office?
