RTW with free flights..???

Firstly, I have very little knowledge about RTW tickets, especially with OW, I was talking with a guy recently who was on a RTW ticket with OW in Business class, which originated in Australia.

He was telling me that with the ticket he gets 4 free flights in each continent. Is this true, anyone had any experience of it..??, He reckons the ticket was priced at about AUS$10,000

THE FAQ is an excellent reference but be aware that it is a little out of date, so don't take everything there as final.

Perhaps the easiest starting point for someone totally unfamiliar with RTWs would be not the FAQ but this, which is arguably easier to read:

You've got to love this forum... so civilised! :) Almost anywhere else an OP like this would have elicited responses ranging from the snippy to the downright abusive.

A word of warning to the OP... As you are new to this, it would be best to read the info at oneworld.com, and you will be doing a lot of reading, and your brain will hurt from all the details.

Over 90% of the information about the oneworld RTW product, oneworld Explorer, can be found at oneworld.com at the link provided in Viajero's post above. While the oneworld Explorer page has always done a nice job of summarizing the product, oneworld now provides much more detailed information than it had in the past. Under the Fare Estimate section prices are provided, and there is also a link to the rules. I would suggest reading these very carefully as they outline what is allowed and what is not.

Now if you survived that, then you may want to explore the other alliances' RTW products. Star Alliance, or SkyTeam, although you being from Dublin, perhaps you wish to stick with BA's oneworld. If you do explore the other alliances, beware that the information is not as detailed on their web sites and you will need to rely more on the FT community for prices, pirated copies of detailed rules, and nuances of the other programs. Also the rules for the other alliances' RTW products are completely different from that of oneworld. So if your brain was hurting before, just wait...

Hah! The surplus flight sectors that are beyond what the OP might have wanted will still have taxes / surcharges / levies etc attached to them. So the "free" coupons will still cost perhaps an extra $50 - $100 each to cover the "free" bit.

To be fair, the OWE rules text does use the term "free flights", so it is hardly surprising someone, particularly a newcomer, would refer to them as such.

Yes, I admit when I saw the handle and the message I suspected a troll; but the join date seemed to rule that out. Anyway I was silly to be suspicious - this would be a thanklesss forum for trolls!
