Lounge Access Question
 
Quick question on oneworld lounge access policy- I want to make sure I've got it right before I travel.

Travelling LHR-ORD on BA in Club World (J).
Travelling ORD-CLE on AA in Economy, on a separate PNR.
No status on either BA or AA. :(

Am I eligible under the lounge access rules to access the Admirals Club at O'Hare before my CLE departure, even though I am on a separate PNR?

Eligibility
In all cases, lounge access eligibility is based on:

Departing carrier - you must be flying on your next onward segment, on the same day, on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline AND

Frequent flyer tier status - you must also hold a frequent flyer card equivalent to oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status, OR

Class of travel - you must produce a First or Business Class boarding pass for the journey's international segment on the same day.
Has anyone had any difficulties in accessing lounges using this rule?

You should have access, provided the stop in ORD is a connection, not a stopover.

This is the AA rule:

Yes is a connection (albeit 5 hours, which is why I am concerned about the lounge access) but I was worried the separate PNR may screw it up. From the aa.com quote, it would appear not.

I've had some rather negative encounters with a few ORD lounge agents, so my advice is that you start the conversation with something like "I'm on an international itinerary in business class..." and then present the two BPs, not before, in order to prevent an impulsive NO when they see the Y BP. The point being that if the agent first says no it is sometimes very difficult to get them to reverse their opinion, even when presented evidence that they are wrong.

Good point, thank you! I may also carry a print out of the web page mentioned above.
Although I've usually had very good experiences with the ORD folks, that was also when I had the benefit of a BA Silver Card. Luckily, this trip goes a long way towards reclaiming status!
