Question: 21 Segment DONE4?
I am currently mid a DONE4 now on a AA paper ticket. It's a long story and a thick handwritten ticket. I am ticketed on a one stop flight AA879 EWR-DFW-PSP. According to the Itinerary Notification I received today from AA it is now two flights, AA677 EWR-DFW and AA879 DFW-PSP with a marginal time change.
While I imagine I'll be protected and potentially have a 21 segment ONEx, should I contact AA to reissue or should I just front at the desk in EWR and they will give me two boarding passes for one voucher? Please, please I hope it is the second! |
Just turn up for check-in with a little extra time. AA will take your one paper coupon and exchange it for a two segment eTicket. If needed just mention the magic words equipment change and involuntary reroute. By the way, you do not have to take the flight connection AA has given you, you can request a different one if you like; they will agree to any reasonable request, but if you do decide you want to change the connection it's better you get the ATW desk to change it before you get to the airport.

That's what I wanted to hear! I guess I have done well with points and, as I'm posting to QF, 90 extra status credits? :p |

An absolute bonus; it does not alway work out that way. ^
EWR-/-PSP on the same one segment flight number would be credited for 2358 miles*, so that's 120 SC's. EWR-DFW-PSP with 2 flight numbers is 2 segments, one of 1372 miles, the other of 1126 miles. So thats 120 and 90 SC's. Also you get another 350 QFF points. |

No problem
The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I had a single coupon for MIA to NRT (via ORD). AA changed to MIA-ORD and ORD-NRT. I just presented the single coupon and was issued the two boarding passes.

From what I was told (when the same thing happened to our DONE4), you are OK with the 21 segments for now, but should you wish to change your routing later (even after these flights have been flown), you will need to get back to 20 segments, meaning dropping something else not yet flown.
