This is GREAT news. I have to book my DONE before May, and I was going to have to go ex-MRU instead. CMB is MUCH easier to get to and also a cheaper start point :)

It would appear so, but not by much. Current equivalent for MRU is:

DONE4/5/6: US$5581/6308/7348, although ticketing costs ex-MRU might raise the true cost somewhat. (No xONE3 ex-MRU, of course.)

MRU is still the AONE* leader by far:

AONE4/5/6: US$6516/7452/8492

(MUR-USD = 0.03466)

For a significant number of people starting in MRU instead of CMB increases the number of continents needed for this preferred itin. They may thus be comparing DONE4 pricing in CMB with DONE5 pricing in MRU.

There is another good thing about this: For all people in the Qantas program, CMB is a third option for flights within Asia of more than 2400 miles. So if you have been to Mumbai or Karachi, here is another destination.

Exactly. Also wastes several segments that I'm not interested in to get from/to MRU. Another problem is that you can't route via LHR in both directions, so routing is limited since you HAVE to go through JNB and then HKG/SYD in one of the directions.

I've read that the CX agents are very organised and efficient, so certainly if you're looking for an airport turn-around on a pre-issued ticket then that makes complete sense. But there is an AA GSA in Colombo. Has anyone had experiences using, or trying to use, them?

Does anyone know what happens if we issue an xONEx ex-CMB and then CX pulls out again? If you experienced this last time, lemme know -- did they offer a refund, or could we reroute to a different asian origin for the same price... Any ideas?

Sorry, don't have direct experience with that so cannot answer the question. However, as I was reading yesterday's news I thought about this likely, or just possible if you like, scenario. Personally, I'd be more than a little hesitant to make hard travel plans right now based on an OWE ex-CMB months away.

darn, its still paper tickets, why can't they issue etix when everyone else does at CMB? Also the flights are night ones, why don't they permanently keep it at daytime since there is the threat of war.

Me too. If it is a booking for a xONEx that I will start within a week or so then that is likely a risk I'd take. But for further ahead the likelihood of disruption increases.

But is there a valid pricing from Sri Lanka? The oneworld website no longer lists fare estimates for Sri Lanka and Nepal. And what were the latest prices for DONEx?
