Circle Pacific Fare Class / Routing Question
So my boss and I are going to be visiting our offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Christchurch late next month. Pretty much the perfect itinerary for a DCIR26 fare.
Unfortunately, I cannot use AA RTW as I must use our corporate travel agent. Two of the flights (from AKL to CHC) are all economy class flights. They book into L on a DCIR ticket, right? Can I backtrack between CHC and SYD? Routing would be CHC-SYD-LAX-JFK. Mileage is calculated including all connections, right? Dragonair is a viable airline, right? Thanks! |
If things are complicated, it is always better to discuss with your travel agent. In general:
* If you have to fly L on certain segments and the rest on D, it will still be a DCIRxx. * I don't think AKL-CHC-SYD will have any problem. * Mileage is calculated on all connections. Although I have not done that, I believe the miles on land segments are also counted. * You can take KA. Note: There is no direct OW flight between Beijing and Shanghai (all airports). You would probably flying PEK-NRT-PVG or PEK-HKG-PVG. However, I don't know if the intermediate point (NRT or HKG) is considered a stopever. (I flew PEK-HKG-PVG once before on the same day, but the segment was marked as 'O' because I originally did not intend to fly on the same day anyway. Also I had to re-check-in in HKG even though both segments were on KA.) You may consider taking a train from Beijing to Shanghai. You can depart in the evening and arrive early the next morning. |

A/D book into Y if the flight is one-class all economy. Can I backtrack between CHC and SYD? Routing would be CHC-SYD-LAX-JFK. Yes, I believe so. Mileage is calculated including all connections, right? Yes plus surface segment mileage if you have those. Dragonair is a viable airline, right? Yes Thanks! |

iirc, this applies to AA domestic flights 3000-3599 and Finnair and Lan domestic flights rather than being a general rule and so a QF flight would be booked in L Dave |

I believe that this is only the situation in certain cases ...

5. RESERVATIONS and TICKETING |
Thanks guys. DCIR26 has been ticketed.
Routing is: JFK-LAX-AKL-CHC-SYD-HKG-CTU-(surface)-PVG-NRT-JFK for those interested. AKL-CHC booked into L. Hopefully J on the QF A330-200 will be good. SYD-HKG is on the CX A330 with the new J seats. |
