Newbie Circle Pacific ?
First, let me say I did do a search...but I can't find the answer I need. I am looking at buying a 22K Circle Pacific fare in Business class for my family to visit me over Christmas. The routing would be LAX-SYD-PER-HKG-LAX.
If I buy those tickets here in Australia, it's $7029 AUD. My question is, can I buy the tickets from a US travel agent, and get the US fare (which is $5300USD)?? Thank you in advance for your help! |

The fare will be the higher of
-The fare for the originating country, or -The fare of the country of purchase. So to get the lower fare you need to: -Start in the country with the lower fare & -Have it ticketed/purchased in the country with the lower fare. |
Wow, that was quick! Thank you all so much for helping me out!

Just call the AA RTW desk in the U.S. (1-800-247-3247), have them set up the ticket, give them a credit card number and have them issue the (electronic) ticket. No need to use a travel agent, who will add absolutely nothing to the process.
So, I got all the way up to purchasing, and then was told that they couldn't take my Aussie credit card over the phone... Any suggestions? Should I just call back and hope a different agent will process my card? |
Yes try again. A common responce with AA
What is the credit card type: VISA, AMEX or ? http://www.flightcentre.us/ advertise as taking Oz cc's but have not used them. They may want a handling fee but worth a phone call or email |

Sorry to hear about the credit card issue. There really is no reason for them not to take your card. As we all know, a standard-issue Mastercard or Visa works just about anywhere in the world. AA has no problem when I call the AA office in Tokyo, from Australia, and give them my US Amex number.
As suggested, try calling back and if they still refuse, ask why. I can understand them wanting the security code from the card (they always want that anyway) but there is no reason not to take a non-U.S. card. If they persist, point out that they are in violation of their own rules, as set out their "Agency Reference" material on AA.com. ************** September 14, 2004 As a reminder, per the ARC Industry Agent's Handbook section 8.0, agents must honor any credit card brand that is presented as payment for an ARC traffic document provided the ticketing carrier accepts that credit card brand as a valid form of payment. Discrimination among credit card brands is prohibited. Anyone acting as an agent for American Airlines is required to accept all of the following credit cards: American Airlines Credit Card American Express Diners Club Discover JCB Mastercard UATP Visa |
