Success in ticketing DONE4s

Hi all

As a few of may have read on the Australian Frequent Flyer Forum I have had horrendous trouble with QF ticketing DONE4s. I choose to add domestic segments to my DONE4 after retruning to Oz. I have done this three times now and know many people who have done it too.

The "problem" I have is that QF refuse to ticket such an itinerary. Eevery time I have tried to ticket directly with them or through a TA who tickets through them I am told that the itinerary is illegal, it can't be done, your last itinerary was illegal and your airline will have been billed for the illegal fligths etc....

I was just wondering what other people's success rates were ticketing such itineraries. I have had no trouble with AA (in fact they took 7 mins to book my last DONE4 with no questions asked at all).

So has anyone (except NM) had such itins ticketed by QF - have we discovered a QF policy that is at odds with the other airlines? Is it a conspiracy against me?

Cheers

S

This post is not the same as your problem, but may be related.
Are you trying to add Oz segments when the ticket is being booked or after some segments have been done ?

I think he's trying to change the dates/times of booked segments (which happen to be after arriving back at POO).

- So "revalidation".

Sorry it was more of a general question regarding the problems I have with QF (and to a lesser extent CX) booking a DONE4 with domestic segments after return to the POO.

I have only heard of one other person being successful (apart from NM) and that was based on using a current QF issued itinerary from NM as an example.

QF have refused to issue something akin to the following every time I have tried:

syd-hkg-lax-lhr-hkg-syd-adl-per-syd

Stopping over in SYD prior to the syd-adl-per-syd trip and stopping over in PER only - not in ADL.

From reading above posts I think he's trying to add unbooked segments (which happen to be after arriving back at POO)

When you return to the point of orgin, without any other ticketed segments to be flown, I would think the ticket has been completed

Your syd-hkg-lax-lhr-hkg-syd-adl-per-syd, from tallboys experience, should be a vaild itn.

I have the advantage of you sir ... :)

At the end of my CX issued July DONE4 I added syd-adl-per-syd as a daytrip. I then moved those flights to 14 April to park them for when I needed them. I just called CX to book them for December as follows:

4 Dec syd-adl QF739
4 dec adl-per QF580
6 dec per-syd QF599

They are having to go back to their fares people to check whether this is valid... There seems to have been some notation that Sydney was just a transit...

For the record the syd-adl-per-syd flights ticketed as part of my original ticket. All I wanted to do was amend the dates - which is now complete. I think the confusion has been through using the word ADD rather than INCLUDE.

My real frustration is that QF refuse when making the initial booking to include flights after a return to the POO. AA will include those flights and after some cajoling CX did. QF have refused both me and other pax. I have attacked this through a TA as well as directly with QF and mentioned in passing to a QF staffer recently - they maintain that sgements after return to POO are illegal.

My minor frustration recently was getting the run around over the past two days when trying to change dates - this has now been completed successfully after paying QF a $40 service fee.

Amend:- change the dates/times of booked segments booking would seem to me what you did. (have not reading you posts on AFF today)

Which gets us back to tallboys post
A few hours later, he called back, saying he had some good news. He and a supervisor had eventually spoken to QF "Industry Sales", who after some discussion confirmed that POO stopovers are indeed allowed on a OWE itinerary, so I could go ahead and make my additional sector bookings.

I had one DONE4 like this ticketed this year but I haven't flown the domestic segments yet. Maybe they will refuse boarding...

Never had a problem boarding the dom sectors - just getting in there in the first place. Even with this revalidation I was concerned that they would investigate and cancel - but luckily no investigation was done -.

From the OW site -

"You are allowed to take two stopovers in total within your continent of origin in order to get to or from a gateway to commence or return from your international travel."

Depending on how you choose to read it, this wording would imply that continent-of-origin segments must be getting you to/from your international gateway and thus you can't do segments that are just jetting about the continent of origin (particularly after you've returned to the point of origin from whatever gateway you used).

Not sure what the *file says but the above wording (which has been there for a long time) has always worried me ...

Isn't tallboy's post, as quoted by Mwenenzi, the key on this?

Yes, one can call QF several times, and get a "no" every time, but I wonder if the "Industry Sales" angle has been tried in this particular case. It seems to me, but I could be wrong, that tallboy's case is more definitive than the other cases, past and present. Or is that wishful thinking?

That part of the rules ("in order to") has never been interpreted, AFAIK, as "the only itinerary allowed is one desgined to connect to/from your gateway". I certainly don't recall ever seeing that come up as an issue.

Silly question perhaps, but excatly what does POO mean? (Is it Point of Origin??)
