AONE6 ex MRU class issues

This is a first post, so please excuse any lapses in protocol. I may well soon find out that I am not worthy - (already been suggested in BAEC forum that I post in this one!)

I have booked and paid for an AONE6 ex MRU and I am currently waitlisted on BA247 LHR-EZE on 12 Nov with only a confirmed seat in WTP (30K on ba.com) which I'm sure you veterans would agree is a poor alternative to F!

The same is the case with an AA950 sector GRU-JFK on 5 December where there is no seat allocation. The BA callcentre said there was nothing they could do about either allocation as it was down to MRUs smaller allocation of A-class seats. They added that my only confirmed seat on that particular AA sector was in Y.

Is there any way of ensuring travel in F?

I have later CX sectors (AKL-HKG 21 Jan and HKG-BOM 2 Feb) which ba.com is showing as J-Class seats but I am sure some study of the CX timetable will reveal aircraft type / dates which carry their F cabin and I can change to those when I am on the road... hope so anyway!

Sorry to report that it doesn't look good for BA 247. Completely sold out in first right now, even at full fare. There are still a few seats left unallocated on the seatmap; however, with full fare sold out, odds are against you for any A class seats.

You really have picked some rough routes and rough dates. If you're willing to reroute your ticket, your options open quite a bit. You could go through Madrid on Iberia or through the US on a combination of BA and AA or IB and AA. Also look if your dates can change any. From GRU, you could go through Miami if you reroute. IMO, it really just depends on how badly you want to not fly Y or Y+.

I believe the OP has sorted this out now.

For BA247 you may have more luck if you're willing/able to split the journey in GRU (the equipment stops there anyway). Service to EZE is only 4 days per week, and premium cabins either have lower allocations or sell out quicker on those through flights. GRU-EZE in any class you want is usually pretty easy on any day operates, since so many passengers disembark in GRU, so the trick is often to get an A seat (or a J/C/D - not sure which ones AONE6 access if A is not available) on one of the days that 247 goes onward from GRU to GIG, and then get a seat in A one or two days later onward to EZE.

Good luck!

I just checked EF and noticed that BA235 flies LHR-GRU seasonally a few days each week (it's daytime instead of overnight) and they're wide open in F/A/J/C/D/I... Doesn't operate on 12th, but does on 11th or 13th.
