Reissuing a DONE4 in NYC
 

What are people's experiences of reissuing a ONE at either of the 2 AA ticket centres in NYC? And if there's a possibility of my ticket turning back into paper - how long will the reissue take?

I'd probably be doing the reissue at the ticket centre on Lex as that seems closer to where I'd be staying, but don't mind going downtown if the difference in competence is monumental. I'm staying in NYC for almost a week (6 nights) - I hope that's enough time for a reissue, taking into account anything that might screw up?

My original ticket is also issued by AA.

Presumably by the time you get to NYC you have already flown at least 4 flights. If so, then barring any included destinations that are non-eticketable you should not need a paper ticket to reissue.

A week should be plenty of time. It should only take a few hours to reissue.

On a somewhat unrelated note, does their London CTO still exist? And if so, is it set up for visitors, or does it only do backroom stuff like AA Sydney?

I found this address by googling - but it's not on AA.com or the UK version. I'd rather not do things at the ATO if I can help it.

Figured that if reissuing would only take a few hours I'd rather do it sooner than later and I think I've got some time in London.

Boy is that an old address. AA used to share their ticketing office with BA and that was the old BA ticket office in Picadilly which doesn't exist anymore.

As long as the total number of segments is 16 or less (including open jaws), it does not matter. I would ask the agent on duty at the time that you try to do the reissue if they have any knowledge with RTW's. That was my experience a couple of years ago. At the Lexington Ave office, you have seating if you decide to wait while the Columbus Circle office does not.

Sorry for going round in circles - but for comparison sake, how is the AA ATO in LHR T3?

Just realised that my parents (hence mid town) will be with me for the entire USA part of my trip so it wouldn't be nice to drag them into an airline office with me (but then again might offer to pay the US$125 .....:cool: :D) when all they want to do is check out NYC.

I'll be alone in Europe and getting into LHR at about 1430 from BCN and figured I got a whole day to spare to head over to T3 to deal with the reissue. I'm pretty sure my etix will turn back into paper tix at the LHR stage of my trip as there are still lots of segments left including surface ones. (NA is happening after Europe)

So - what's the AA ATO in LHR like in reissuing ONEs, and dealing with handwritten tickets? I've heard pretty negative things about ATOs as these things can be labour intensive and I'm basically going to tie up one AAgent for hours (and probably cause the ATO to partially close shop?). Hopefully it wouldn't take more than a day if I've got the ATW desk and the rates desk to prep the record and triple check carefully prior to arrival?

I leave for LAX 3 days later - that flight is on AA, and also JFK-SYD booked on the AA7366 codeshare, and so they ought to be quite happy to help?

The advantage of a LHR reissue would also mean I have less margin of error as some of the flights I'm hoping to be reticketed on happens immediately after NYC.

I may be missing something really obvious here but why aren't you simply calling the Dallas RTW desk and getting them to do it?

I will be calling them to make all the necessary changes prior to showing up at any desk/office. However I still need a physical desk/office to get the tickets printed out if they change into paper. Also, for some reason, AA in the US doesn;t process Aussie credit cards over the phone.

Need help double checking - does the following total 16 segments including surface segments? I'm pretty sure I got 16 but I want to double check before I make another long distance call:

NRT-SIN-LHR-DXB-LHR-FCO//BCN-LHR-LAX//SFO-JFK-MIA-MSY-DFW-JFK-SYD-NRT

Oh and I got rid of enough 'unnecessary' land segments in the 'real' routing (changed JFK//LGA-FLL//MIA to JFK-MIA - hopefully not too long a drive over to Fort lauderdale beach...) so that I can probably wait till I come back home to reissue the ticket, by which time it should probably be reissued back into an electronic ticket! ^

Not long in distance, but traffic is heavy and S. FL drivers a little wild, so take it easy.

Oh well - better than having to deal with the unpredictability of a reissue halfway on holiday. With my personality I'd be too stressed to enjoy my holiday properly. At least now I can wait till I come home with a 3-4 week 'grace' period.
