Seating on DONE4 and domestic class
 

Hi

I am just about to book a DONE4 from LHR.

My agent says i get preassigned seats but cant change them until check in on all non BA flights even though i am a silver card holder. Is that correct?

Also my internal US flights seem to be booked in economy is that normal or should they be booked in domestic first?

Your US domestic flights should be in A if there's A availability on the flight.

You can change your seat assignments on most OW carriers in business if you call the airline directly (it would probably help if you can get each airline's underlying PNR). It's only BA that refuses to do this for anyone except full fare J.

I assume someone else is paying if you are booking a DONE4 from LHR? You are aware that you could save over a thousand quid by popping over Sweden and starting there?

I am paying for my wife and I !!! Is it really a lot cheaper and if so can someone please recommend an agent from Sweden. Great tip thank you.

If you look through the posts in this forum you will find many comments on starting in Sweden. Many people just seem to use BA there I think. Do a search of the forum on "Sweden".

PNR (Passenger Name Record literally) is the reservation number - a 5 or 6 character code. The airline you book with will have a PNR for the whole itinerary, but each of the other underlying airlines will have a (different) PNR in their own system for your flights with them.

Most AA domestic flights have the two cabin classes, First class and Coach. It's for these flight you book into A (First).

Some (Mainly 'trascontinental') flights have three cabin classes, First class, Business class and Coach. For these you book into D (Business).

Actually BA allows BA Silver to preselect seats per the seating policy page.

I would be calling back re those Domestic US flights ASAP - you don't want to be in whY if you have the choice :)

The other thing to watch for is if you're taking short hops you may have been booked on regional jets which are Y only, you definately want to avoid these.

On my RTW's I find the planner on the oneworld website and the dallas AA RTW desk absolutely essential
