cheapest place to buy a round the world ticket

We're planning to go in sept on a 3° RW Tour. Last time we bought in 2003 our Global Explorer ticket in Egypt, this was a lot cheaper ( 40%) than in Europe. i believe this isn't possible anymore. Is there another place on our globe to buy it more economic?

The answer to your question depends on the type of ticket, the class, and the route. All the information you need is in that thread or places linked from it.

BTW: I would not post email addresses in a forum as you have done unless you wish them to be spammed out of existence.

Unscrupulous people write software that troll the internet looking for email addresses (often called BOTS). Posts like your in forums like this are a ready source of such information. Lists of these 'valid' email address are then on sold for uses such as spamming.

or, even better,

the bots won't pick it up, but people will be able to reach you.

It depends on the class you're flying.

I think Australia/New Zealand is cheapest for Coach, Sri Lanka for Business, and MRU in first.

But check the pricing thread and download the Excel file.

Not to mention that other factors clearly come into play across all of cost (air, fares, visas), time (travel), convenience (ticketing, visas, interest or in the location, security).

An xONEx ex-Pakistan is cheaper than Sri Lanka, but not by that much and for most people not by enough to be often warrant mention as a cheap location. Likewise ex-Gibraltar & ex-Sweden are considered cheap premium class starting points despite being notably more than say Sri Lanka or MRU.

...and fuel surcharges. To ticket from a BA only location is, or can be, a lot more expensive in this regard than to ticket from a place where AA is an option.

You always have the option to use the BA location to ticket the minimum number of segments to circle the globe and then reissue as soon as you get to an AA station. Of course the $125 is about equal to two fuel surcharges.

Yes, this a strategy that works for many, but for me is not a good one, because I complete OWEs in 4-6 weeks, and always on tight schedules, so the itinerary I first setup is usually the one I end up flying, with no reissue. If I waited until that first AA station many of my hard to get seats would be long gone.
