Revised OWE rules on EF
I looked up the OWE rules (QF DONE4) on EF to see if the additional members were on the record, and they are...
I'm still trying to parse the ghastly all-caps text but pulled out the following excerpt, to which I've added sentence and paragraph breaks in (I hope) the right places. As expected, it looks like pre-April tix can't use the new members. If anything else jumps out at me I'll add it, or EF subscribers can look for themselves. At first glance it looks unchanged from the previous rules. (In "Flight Application") G/TRAVEL ON ANY AA/AY/BA/CX/EG/IB/JC/JL/JO/LA/LP/ MA/NU/QF/RJ/XL/4M -EI PARTICIPATION FOR SALES ON/BEFORE 31MAR07 AND EG/JC/JL/JO/MA/NU/RJ/XL/4M PARTICIPATION FOR SALES ON/AFTER 01APR07- CODESHARE SERVICE OPERATED BY AA/AY/BA/CX/EG/IB/ JC/JL/JO/LA/LP/MA/NU/QF/RJ/XL/4M -CARRIER PARTICIPATION AS PER ABOVE DATES- IS PERMITTED. OTHER CODESHARE SERVICES NOT PERMITTED. EXCEPTION 1 - TRAVEL NOT PERMITTED ON CX FLIGHTS BETWEEN HONG KONG AND HANOI. EXCEPTION 2 - QF CODESHARE SERVICES OPERATED BY JQ - JETSTAR ARE PERMITTED EXCEPT FOR POINT OF SALE AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND - FOR SALES ON/BEFORE 31MAR07 ONLY. TRAVEL PERMITTED ON THE FOLLOWING AIRLINES WHICH ARE AFFILIATED WITH ONEWORLD - ALL AFFILIATE CARRIER FLIGHTS MUST BE BOOKED USING AA/BA/IB/LC/JL/LA/NU/QF/XL/4M DESIGNATORS. -JC/JL/NU/XL/4M PARTICIPATION ON/AFTER 1APR07- |
Pulling JQ from OWE is getting to be a bigger and bigger problem. Lots of new planes bought for JQ now by QF, and there will be lots of QF routes that become JQ over the next year, and these will disappear as OWE destinations. I guess the analogy would be AA dropping Eagle from OWE (whcih they don't do, and in fact encourage Eagle use by allowing D/A to book into Y instead of L, thus Eagle inventory is always available as they will oversell Y if needed).

According to several AAgents, it is not only pre-April tix that are excluded from using the new participating carriers. It's all reservations created before April, even ones yet to be ticketed. I hope someone can prove this to be wrong though...
