Yes, it's true, not every one has Excel, or if they do, may not be able to run macros on it. Also they may not be able to set up something like "open office.org" failing anything else.

And some people would rather just have someone else look it up for them...
I now feel bad for not having answered OP's question directly myself, especially since I'm often guilty of asking questions that I could with some amount of effort, answer myself by digging through the archives, Wikipedia, by calling the airline, or other sources. |

Which it was really nice of Serfty to do, don't we think?

All in all giving someone a cite to where they can find the answer will often in the long run be more helpful both to that person and to the next person that happens to read that thread and wants to know how much it is start from Brazil. My own feeling was that this person had access to excel, opened the fare tool and then wasn't going to bothered to use the tool. Similarly a person on the AA forum quite awhile back wanted some info from EF, I provided it along with a link to EF and mentioned how they might want to join. The person replied they were a member of EF but just couldn't be bothered with logging on and figured they could get someone else to do it for them - not that there was some reason they couldn't log in - slow dial up connection or anything - just wanted someone else to do it for them. |

Before answering I looked at the persons posting history and they do not have a record of asking such questions. Indeed, if there was not much other than why's, where's and how's then I would not have answered. Having typed that, I wasn't actually going to answer but my flight was delayed 30 mins so I took the opportunity given that not all can employ spreadsheets.

My security will not allow external macros and was trying to get an answer quickly. When it was not easily available I bowed out politely. I'm quite willing to do the work required to figure things out. I do agree with your general approach though - most of us don't have time to hand hold anyone, and I wasn't expecting to be hand held. |

It's not especially macro-laden, and FWIW my copy of Excel allows me to disable macros on workbooks. I get that warning everytime I open WBT's file.
IIRC the macros have to do with updating currency exchange rates, nothing more. |

It looks as though we've taught a man - or woman - to fish.
I appreciate the helpfulness from very seasoned, highly knowledgeable members to newcomers as well as long time members on this forum. Thank God, we differ in that way from some other forums on FT. Let's keep it that way. And now I return you to the initial question. SanDiego1K OneWorld Moderator |

new Alternative to DFW-ANC-DFW for (as yet) unrestricted 'transcon'
Ok, so not transcontinental... but equally not worth starting a new thread for...
Perhaps an attractive alternative once your JFK-YVR or vice versa has been used! JL has a YVR-MEX flight, both daytime flights so you can enjoy the service. It looks as though its only a 2-class service so not so good for the AONErs out there, great news for those of us who slum it with their DONE's. I wonder if there are any other similar flights to this with JL?? |

Onward from there I see AA flies MEX-DFW and MEX-ORD, both setups for a run to ANC for mileage or to explore Alaska, though, but not MEX-LAX or MEX-JFK. |
