JAL and AA aliance

I am new to this forum but not as a traveler... Just a warning if you are an AA person and want AA credit, elite credit, and want to fly on JAL - you will NOT get it till April 18th according to the customer service center at AA. I am not sure of the validity of this story but have confirmed it with customer service ...
