changing first flight date on LONE4
Hi!!
I need to change the dates of the first three flights for my LONE4. I got the flight tickets here at home, and I'll call on monday to the round the world department of BA to see which dates-times suit my new plans. Will they reissue the tickets only when dates are changed or I can use the tickets I have with a different day printed. I suppose they won't reissue them because since the moment I purchased the tickets I've received in my mail two different posts saying they've changed some flights, and they have not posted me the new tickets with the time changes of the flights... thank you |
If you need to change any flights up to and including the first international flight then that requires a reissue (at new prices, T&Cs, etc, although at no charge). Changing the date on any flights after the first international flight is not a reissue, although some airlines are now apparently insisting on trying to extort some sort of "revalidation fee" at check-in if you do this.

If the first segment change is just a date change, BA MRU has told me-- and documented the PNR-- that no fee/re-issue is nesc. The rules for that region, I think. I asked at least 5 times if first segment's date was freely changeable.

Date changes ex-MRU seem not to require a re-issue, but routing changes to first international segment do and that would be subject to any price increases.

BA MRU seems to be running to their own private version of the rules in a number of respects. Unless and until we get a printed copy of those rules I guess we just have to treat each case as a lucky break rather than something that will happen reliably.

So on a normal, by the rules, oneworld Explorer xONEx fare, a change of date of the first international segment will require a reissue. Does that mean a reprice as well if the new published price is higher (since it's more like refunding old ticket/issuing new ticket), or simply a $125 reissue fee?
Note that xONEx tickets are generally refundable, so as long as the fare has not changed (nor the route) you can just exchange the old ticket for the new. There are some exceptions: the AA RTW desk gave me quite a fright when they told me a 10% penalty applies for canceling (and rebooking) my AONE4. As it happens, that only applies to xONEx issued in North America, and since mine was ex-NRT, the ticket was simply exchanged. |

Nonetheless, BA MRU unorthodox routings and rule interpretations are getting approved by BA's rate desk. |
