A word about LAN's IFE on the A343
On several of my very recent LA transatlantic A343 flights the IFE has been problematic at best, and I don't mean just my seat, I mean for everybody, so if you don't plan to sleep and want to while the 12+ hrs away, make sure you bring a book, or a laptop, or DVD, plus an adapter (LA's power conection is kind of weird).
|
Some airlines have been offering compensation for defective IFE systems (ranging from a few thousand FF miles to duty free vouchers for USD 200, the latter by CX in F). Has LAN been offering any compensation?

Do you mean the Empower (circular DC plug much smaller than the automobile cigarette-lighter type DC plug)? AFAIK, there are only three choices, two DC and one is the 110/220 normal electrical outlet.

Do you mean the Empower ...
Most airlines are getting rid of Empower when they refurbish their J/F cabins. Most are now going to standard 3-prong AC plug (and 110V AC), allowing the use of medical devices as wel as laptops, etc. And stopping the need to carry 5 different kinds of adapters around. Empower is an idea whose time has come and gone. |
Their system was always glitchy when trying to play the games, but I never had issues with the movies/CDs. However, I have been stuck on 767s for the past year and now on into eternity.

I can confirm that LAN does use Empower.

The 110V outlet had some sort of template that rotated where you could plug a standard US 3-prong plug, but I am sure the wholes allowed for other countries' plugs as well. Very similar to the one on IB's new J seat. |
Yes, the 767P has a 110V outlet, but the A340 none that I could see.
