It's nice to have a lively debate about the wiki ^ . Sometimes when I post something about the AA wiki, I just get pure silence - it's like hitting golf balls into the pacific.
Figuring out where information should go is a bit of a challenge. I don't know enough about the debate regarding the AA sticky in this forum so I can't really comment on it, but I have just figured out how to use wiki templates which might help out on issues like this. As an example, I turned the oneworld award booking classes into a template and then embedded the template into an AA article. So the now the oneworld and the AA-specific affiliate partner codes are available in a single article. Now we only have to modify the oneworld template and all of the child articles will be updated as well. A possible approach (and by no means an easy one) for issues like AA miles/oneworld awards would be to have the basic oneworld rules in a template and then have the airline specific implementation rules in the airline article. Just something for us to keep in mind. An interesting aspect of using the templates is that all of the articles that embed the oneworld templates are going be listed on the oneworld category page. It's a little odd, but at least it will help us be aware of the dependencies of the templates and the articles that use them. ...and thanks everyone for the words of appreciation :) |
