Does anyone have a feel for when Lan Argentina award availability goes on-line for AA redemption? And is there a way to check such availability myself?
I'm planning on redeeming another AA award and would love to get a domestic LAN Argentina flight thrown in "for free," but it looks pretty hopeless. |

Join LanPass to see what is available to its FF members. Domestic LAN flights open to awards 6 months in advance, IIRC.
Thanks. |
So after a few phone calls and much grumbling from the AA agents, I got them to allow me to add LAN segments to my future fall AA AAdvantage award reservation without having to pay the $100/per ticket reissue fee.
But my guess is that this will still be very difficult to do. I understand that LAN allows its frequent flyer members to book 6 months in advance. Will they load any award inventory to AA before that date? My prior experience is that it's virtually impossible to get LAN award seats at any time, particularly to Patagonia. I'm assuming the inventory made available to AA is lower the inventory made available to their own frequent flyers? Any tips on how to snag the LAN seats I want would be much appreciated. Thanks! |
LAN Argentina (4M) doesn't even book domestic revenue tickets earlier than 6 months. I found that out the hard way when a Travelocity booking on LAN for 9 months out resulted in a voided LAN Argentina ticket. Took several calls to LAN to get them to correctly re-issue a new ticket within the 6 month validity period. I think they used to allow reservations within 12 months, but tickets only good for 6. That's where my problem came from. Now I think they don't even allow reservations earlier than 6 months, which at least keeps them in sync with the ticket.
(Note this is just for LAN domestic tickets; LAN international is the standard 330 or 331 day booking, 1-year ticket validity.) Probably you'll have to call AA right at the 6 month window. You also can sign up for LANPass at www.lan.com and do a dummy award booking to see what they have available. Also - KVS Availability Tool Platinum now includes oneworld award availability (via Qantas' booking engine) and in "extended mode" it shows some LAN flights, though I don't know about 4M. Nice airline to fly every time I've been on them. Just quirky in terms of the domestic ticket validity. |
Are there any specific award availability questions you'd like me to ask LAN?
There is a LAN office 2 blocks from my apartment. |
