LANPASS bonuses for purchases on LAN.com
Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on flyertalk. Only up till the end of December.
http://www.lan.com/promociones/bono_...pra/index.html Intercontinental Flight in Economy Class 10,000 additional kilometers Flight within South America or Europe 5,000 additional kilometers Flight within Chile, Peru or Argentina 2,000 additional kilometers Worth it for an intercontinental flight, as 20,000 points is enough for a flight within a zone in Chile. http://www.lan.com/promociones/data/...cion_5000.html Free 5,000 points for signing up to LAN too... Has anyone here flown LAN before? Is this offer any good? |

Flight from LIM to BOG was very nice- like new A319 with S P A C I O U S seating (I can barely take a coach AA flight- legs too long-the person infront of me hates me when I don't get an exit row, because I use a seat block .....truly, I was amazed at 3 inches of space between my knees and the seat in front of me in a non exit row.....as kept thinking--- why can't AA get THIS accomplished??) Sandwich with fruit and 2 beverage services on ***BOTH*** 90 minute legs of the trip (a brief 28 minute stop in Quito). I can't even get that on a ORD-SNA flight. I'm satisfied and definitely will be taking more flights with them... LAN^ ^ I'm taking another flight next week and will post again. |

Really only a matter of a one dollar difference for MRTC? Shame on the US mass market consumer...

LAN is configured at the MRTC seat pitch. AA did try this for many years, but it didn't work. In the US market AA couldn't charge an extra dollar for MRTC, and lost money against competitors with the fewer seats, thus the demise of MRTC. AA stuck with it for a long time, convinced that the market will come to value their product, but eventually gave up. This gives a deep lesson to the rest of the industry in the US, with the legacy that it is unlikely that any airline will try it again. There is now a long string of small airlines that went bankrupt with luxury service for the mass US market.

A related question: I saw on VftW that Starwood goes 2 to 1 for LAN points (and still gets the +5000 for each block of 20 bonus). LAN lists oneworld redemption (http://www.lan.com/lanpass/canjee_km...a_premios.html) here. I was considering a oneworld RTW with American; is this the same ticket (16 flights, no backtrack, mileage restriction as listed)? And am I required to start on LAN metal, or can I start in the US? I was planning on taking the SCL-IPC-SCL anyway, so I'll definitely have a LAN flight during the trip. Given the 5000 free points on signup, this would leave 155000 points for the flight, or 62500 Starwood points, which is certainly doable.

The AA rules are at http://www.aa.com/content/disclaimer...ld_rules.jhtml LAN does not seem to publish their rules on the web. |
