BA / AA ticketing question
 

I am currently in the middle of an ex-london LONE4 RTW. I am about to book a return mid way through this to my starting point, London.

I have been trying to get a couple of questions answered about this and am having no luck with the AA and BA call centres! Could anyone answer a couple of questions for me:

1. Is is permitted to purchase a seperate oneworld ticket to return to point of origin within an LONEx and fly back to pick up the route? This will not cause problems with the RTW ticket?

2. Are discount N class fares with BA eligible for miles under the AA program? BA have told me this is a special fare with no mileage eligibility, but normally N class would be eligibel under both BA and AA. Is it possible this is a special condition on a ticket, or will N class always be eligible. As I am AA plat this makes a difference!

There are no OWE restrictions that I know. Lots of us break RTWs and return home on separate tickets.

BA N class earns 25% on AA, except transatlantic travel to/from the US on any class, that earns nothing.

Edited to add: I suppose a case could be made that returning to the point of origin (on a separate ticket) before 10 days would break the minimum stay rule, but I doubt that is being enforced, or checked.

BA does have some consolidator type fares which display as N but are actually not N, and these do not earn miles in any plan. Typically these are sold by STA or other student organizations. They are easy to spot as they are much cheaper than any fare you can find on aa.com or ba.com.

You may buy as many RTWs as you wish. But by asking the RTW desk , you may have confused them by thinking that you want to add continents to your existing RTW that may seem to back track through your original departure point.

So, just buy a new ticket as though you are originating from whereever you intend to and not link that ticket to the one you have now and you'll be fine.

Agree. You can combine as many RTWs with other tickets as you want.
I am currently in Europe. Used an Award to Asia, then flew on the outbound of a CMB-LAX ticket to the US and on an LH award to Eruope. Now i will be using the LH award back to LAX, then use a second RTW (where i used CAI-LAX) to continue to Asia, continue on the first RTW to Europe, take RTW number 3 to the US, use then the LAX-CMB return to Asia........
Never had a problem. Very flexible, change dates, change routings.

Am I right that if the agent (I am looking at fares on ba.com) confirms a BA ticket is N class then it should be eligible for miles under AA? Or is it possible to be sold as N class but not be eligible.

It is possible for it to be sold as N class by BA and not be N class, but some other class (BA is prone to doing that). If it really is N class, you are in the clear.
