Will BA accept a bank transfer as payment..
 

Hi all,

Will BA in UK accept a bank transfer to pay for a ONE ex-UK from a UK bank account and the person is also a UK resident? Does this payee have to be traveling or can he make payment for me. What information will BA need for the transfer?

How long does it take once payment is made to receive tickets in mail?

Phone BA and ask them. Very common for tickets to be paid for by someone other then than the named person on the ticket

If you want to do this, you might be better off dealing with a friendly TA who I am sure will happily take your money via bank transfer. Some TA's will even arrange a small discount!

xONEx ex-UK however are some of the most expensive in the world. In fact I would hasten to state that the US, UK and Australia are the three countries to avoid starting a xONEx if your wanting to be cheap.

LONEx yes, but not AONEx or DONEx. The same is true of LONEx out of the UK.

In this forum however most people are only interested in A and D fares as L generally does not credit well cross programmes.

Apparently it will come as a surprise that some people actually purchase the fare for the *travel* benefits.

I would have thought the main reason not as much discussion on LONEx is that for most places it isn't worthwhile flying somewhere far away to start it, whereas for DONEx and AONEx the savings do justify finding a cheap origin and spending $ or miles to get there.

Different web cultures. This is a frequent flyer site primarily and secondarily a travel site. If you want to go to where the LONEs rule, try the RTW board at the Thorn Tree at Lonely Planet.

Oh, paleeeze! Much of the chat here is not about earning miles but about what's the cheapest place to start and how much it will cost, followed by lots of questions about whether or not a particular itin is valid and/or how various airlines are interpreting rules, then a mix of little topics like who has the best beds, easiest availability, can I legally skip a segment, etc. After all that, once in a while someone posts a routing intended to maximize miles, and asks for suggestions. All that stuff is as important to the guy on a L-class budget as to the rich guys, although the poor folks may do more lurking than contributing for various reasons.

I was referring to FT the site not oneworld the board. Judging from thread count, this is not exactly a backwater board on FT but it's not in the top 20, that's for sure. My wife calls it wonkworld and sometimes I think she's got a point.

I guess what I was trying to say before misinterprolising myself, as a prominent politicist might say, is that - IMO - the bulk of discussions on D/A travel here are the result of the demographics and flying patterns of FT's readership, whereas other BBS have a focus on the destinations rather than the means. On the TT, RTW travel is co-located with the "gap year" (evidencing LP's origins) and it's clearly a younger, thus less affluent readership (or one that doesn't have employer-paid travel) that posts there. And it's there that LONEs, STA travel, Airtreks, et al, come up way more often than they do here, and "where to start" when it's asked almost always has a one word answer.

And by way of prebuttal, if you think there's any kind of judgement lurking in those words, you couldn't be more wrong.
