Recent Price Quote for DONE04 ex-BKK

After searching these threads, I requested info from the following: [email protected]
Have RTW fares had such a massive price increase? $US7,000+ plus taxes?! This is the reply I received:

Dear Sir,

Round the world starting from BKK DONE04 Business class thb 255,000- plus taxes. only 20 segments allowed in the whole journey

best regards,
Rani

Correct fare for a DONE4 ex-BKK is THB 262,645 plus tax.

Chawla Travel gave you a small discount in fact!

Well, the June 30 version of the spreadsheet I had tucked away showed the ex-Thailand DONE4 at USD6335. The comparison would be better if I knew how to back out the exchange rate the spreadsheet used.

AONE4        372340 (THB)
AONE5        418740 (THB)

What happens if you set the currency to THB?

Answer, you see that the price has increased since the 1.9.7 spreadsheet, which shows the older/cheaper prices:
Code:

DONEx        208,930        238,765        274,570        299,450
AONEx        299,540        338,490        387,725        424,450

Oh. Well, my current DONE04 ends in CAI. I'm not sure there is much advantage now to buying separate ticket to BKK and then originating future RTW's in Thailand. Sri Lanka still intriguing.

No interest in MRU?

I will be picking my next AONE3 up in DOH at the weekend. CX's GSA has been pretty responsive, although it has been a bit of a learning experience...
One advantage is that it is quite cheap (though not as cheap as MRU, obviously), the other is that I can finish my previous ex-CAI AONE3 there without any additional cost of getting to a new start location.

DONE4 ex BKK

I have used Green Travel (www.greentravel2000.com) in Bangkok for several RTW fares and can recommend them. They also quote THB262,645 ex taxes.

They have amazing deals on for RTW fares on EK/UA if their routes suit. Note the non stop EK DXB/JFK is not allowed on that deal.

Plus the USD has devalued against the THB over the past year which hasn't helped things. That price you saw months ago is higher now.

Can we discuss this here? It's an awesome fare, although I suppose the travel opportunities are very limited compared to xONEx.

Wow. This is an awesome fare. I always like to split up my RTW, and usually buy separate ticket BKK-MIA-BKK to go home and have break for 4-6 months before resuming RTW in BKK. This Emirates deal makes that trip break very intriguing. Thanks for tip.

A great fare indeed, but as you have to stick to the UA/EK network, routing possibilities outside USA and Middle East are limited.
Here's the main discussion thread in the Emirates forum:
