QF JFK->LAX on a RTW...

Its been discussed in here that as part of a RTW you can use the QF flight between JFK and LAX.

However - I'm being told I cannot use it as a last segment:

LAX --QF--> SYD --QF-> SIN --QF--> LHR --BA--> JFK --QF--> LAX

Phoned Qantas US ticketing, they say you can, then phoned Qantas Australia who say you can't - logic being than I didn't enter the US on QF.

You can't do it. Even if ticketed (by QF) QF will stop you from getting on the plane unless you are connecting in LAX to a QF flight.

I believe that it is technically allowed by the US governement as long as you are making an international connection, but as QF would get fined if you don't they won't take the risk.

Unless things have changed, I've done LHR-(BA)-JFK-(QF)-LAX-(QF)-AKL before without any problems.

QF requires you to connect to a QF trans-pacific flight when flying JFK-LAX; a stopover at LAX is allowed, but it must be part of a flight to Aus/NZ. Having an earlier flight from LAX-SYD does not qualify.

The BA flight in this case makes no difference as you connected to a QF flight.
