Need help finding Travel Agent in UK
 

Hi,

Does anyone know of other travel agents with little or no booking charge in the UK (booking a ONE4) I am from the US trying to book a ONE4 leaving LHR to save some money due to the lower ONE4 prices in UK.

The TA i alreay know of is http://www.trailfinders.co.uk. They charge 75 pounds to book each passenger.

If you're flying here for the ticket, or even in the UK, I'd recommend looking for an agent in Gibraltar or Sweden. It's 1K GBP less than the UK flight, more than worth a trip over there to collect the ticket.

When making booking in another country do i have to include the start of my route within that country?

Australia was quoted at $2398 USD for ONE4. Can i call a TA in AU to buy my ticket but not actually go to AU on my route?

Yes, you must begin and end the trip in the country where you bought and paid for the ticket. If you want to pay the price listed for country X the transaction must be completed in X. If you send a credit card no. or wire money to a TA in Britain, wanting the British price, your trip mustl originate in Britain. If you want the British TA to sell you a ticket in which travel begins in the US (or France or Slobovia) they can do so but you will pay the US/French/Slobovian price.

You must leave X on your first international flight. Once you return to X, you can't leave again. This is vexing for UK originating trips, since all roads pass through London for connecting flights, and the first time you set paw on pavement in the UK after leaving, game over.

Have you tried simply booking with one of the airlines? A few years ago I used CX London ticketing to set up a ticket ex-CDG which I paid for on departure with no problem at all, so I imagine they could do one ex-LHR (assuming you have some CX long-haul in there).

Yea, i tried calling AA in the UK to pay for the trip, the cust rep took all my info and cc then i got a call back saying they would have to forward my itinerary to the US for ticketing (then i would have to pay the higher US price), because they don't ship tickets outside of country. So i will most likely be calling a TA in UK to book the trip. Just trying to find a no fee or small fee TA.

Why do you need them to ship a ticket anywhere? Just pick it up at LHR before your first flight.

christep, will the ticket desk hold the tickets for a while? my trip is not until end of jan 07. i'm not in the uk and will be getting a one way to there to start.

I've certainly ticketed up to a month in advance for ticket on departure. Currently trying to work something similar out with CX's GSA in DOH.

Can CX give you the option to send tickets out via mail internationaly? instead of personal pickup? Also does anyone know of a TA with a fee less then 75 pounds?

Not sure - I've always been happy just to pick up the tickets at the ticket desk on departure.

Did they let you pay for the tickets over the phone with your CC? Or did you have to pay then you picked them up in person?

It varies - some places will take it over the phone, some on departure. Over the phone they might also want you to email them a scan of both sides of your credit card.

I've had to pay in advance, by CC over the phone plus fax of the front/back of the CC to CX (this may vary by country and type of card and amount, it is required by the card issuer for fraud protection). At least once CX Fedex'ed the tickets to me in the US (at no charge), this was for non-US origin tickets, issued by the CX YVR office.

Thanks for the info. I have had recent problems with AA ticketing my tickets in the UK (said they wont send them to us unless i pay the USA fare, then the US AA would send them). I am leaving out of LHR and hoping CX will be able to work with me to either pay over the phone and pick up tickets while i'm in the UK a few days before my first flight or be able to send the tickets to me in the US.

I want to try to avoid a TA in UK due to the booking fee or 75 pounds each and surcharges of 2%. These additional fees add up for 2 people, trying to avoid!

Any other advice is welcomed!

Has anyone actually booked a ONE ex UK with a non UK credit card or a bank transfer? What is the ONE airlines that will accept it? What is the trick to this?

AA is telling me now that the fare is only for UK residents? I have read others on the forum booking through MRU and seem to be working, why not from UK?

Should i make a new booking through a different airline such as BA, QF, CX? As of now i have it through AA.

Trying to avoid a TA if i can to save about 400+ USD with there 75GBP fee each and credit card fees.

Ive done it by contacting the ATW desk and getting the reservation in place and then phoning +44 207 365 0777 , quoting the record locator and then paying for it.

If you have hassles, speak to a supervisor and if necessary get them to refer to the tariff people

Amex Travel Services for a TA?
 

Hi all,

Has anyone used Amex Travel Services for a TA in the UK? Are their fees less then other TA's?

Would a Amex Gold Card or Corporate Business account wave or lower their TA fees?
