Hello,

When making a booking for ONE4 through AA can i pick the dates and times of the flights online (via AA's website) while i'm on my trip. I know the 1st flight has to be given a certain date and time.

Hello,

I am in the process of booking my ONE4 from the US. I am starting the ONE4 in LHR. The customer service rep told me that i have to call a travel agent in the UK to purchase the ONE4 and i can't purchase the ONE4 through the USA unless
i want to pay the USA price, which is over $1000 greater that UK.

Does this seem correct?

Yes, it is correct. If you want to pay UK prices you have to purchase the ticket in the UK. If you purchase an ex-UK OWE in the US the higher (US) price applies.

You should be able to make the reservations and purchase the ticket directly through BA. I think there's a RTW desk phone number somewhere on here, no?

I think the OP said that BA/North America had already told him to go away, which is very consistent with reports by others who've tried to use their services in any way relating to an ONE purchase outside their area.

If BA indeed staff an rtw desk in England during daylight hours, calling their local number there might work, but if the suggested TA is good at ONE that may well be the correct approach.

Is the OP aware that, in addition to England origination being $1000 cheaper than North America, there are places in Europe still cheaper?

I'll try to give BA a call in the US tommorow to see if they can help making the booking for the UK price.

I don't think you understand yet... You CANNOT buy a UK-originating ticket from anyone who is not located in the UK. BA RTW in the US may be able to help set a record up with your desired reservations etc. But the ticketing itself MUST be done in the UK, and you must pay a UK-based entity.

The problem has mainly to do with who you're phoning.

Phone the AA North America RTW desk at (800) 247-3247 and explain what you want to them. The N. America BA RTW desk - recently the subject of "realignment" (translated: relocated and riffed) has never been cooperative in setting up RTWs not bought and paid for inside N. America.

AA ought to be able to build the PNR and tell you how to pay for it in the UK where, it so happens, AA has a significant presence already.

It will help if one or more of your longhaul segments are on AA metal, and it's the right thing to do if you're using their res services.

Otherwise the travel agent listed above can help. Generally you need to send a credit card or wire transfer funds in order for the ticket to be issued. If you're traveling in the near future (i.e. can tolerate the risk that prices may go up between now and when you start) you can wait till you're there and make the arrangements in person, which might take a couple of days for the rates people to tally the taxes and for your credit card to clear, etc.

One4 Ticketing Question
 

Hi all,

I recently called AA in the UK to purchase my ONE4 leaving out of LHR (i am in the US and leaving from UK to get cheaper ONE tick, save over $1000 usd). The customer service rep accepted my ONE4 and took all my credit card info etc. The AA cust rep at the time said that because i was calling in the UK that they would accept this booking and my USA credit card. When i log onto my account on AA it says my "Status: Ticketed."

Then today i got a call from the UK asking where to send my tickets because they can't send them as e-tickets. I call them back and a new cust rep then said AA (in the UK) would have to forward my itinerary to the USA AA to mail the tickets.

I'm kind of worried now that the USA AA will say that i have to pay the US fare? Or does this "Status: Ticketed" mean my reservation is complete and AA in the UK has finalized my ONE4? I also have not been charged yet on my credit card, i assume AA won't charge my cc until they send ticks out.

Thanks for any advice i should be expecting from AA. AA in the USA does not provide any help on how to book these lower fares in other countries.

I doubt that AA offers the service of forwarding tickets between countries for mailing; if the ticket is issued in the US, it will be charged the US fare. Normally in your situation UK tickets are bought through a UK travel agent or on a trip when physically in the UK. Doing it through an airline is risky when you don't have a UK mailing address or the ability to pickup the tickets in person. There are thousands of TAs who would have been able to handle this for you, for little or no fee. As for "ticketed" status on aa.com, that just means it has been sent to ticketing (I've had non-OWE tickets appear in ticketed status and not actually be issued, though this is rare).

"Ticketed", for AA, does not mean a ticket has been issued yet, it just means it is in the process of being issued. For normal tickets (non-OWE) when the ticket is eventually issued this is reflected in aa.com by adding the date of the issue, so it now reads "ticketed mm/dd/yy". For AA OWEs, however, aa.com never changes, it just stays as plain "ticketed" all the time. In short: "ticketed" for an AA OWE, means nothing, until you actually get the tickets in your hand.

Does "Ticketed" Status mean that my reservation will not expire? Normally the reservation for a ONE would expire in 21 days?
