Route Check Please
Hi Guys,
Been a while since I posted and read up on this so a bit rusty. I am looking at a DONE5 that I think will look something like this: One way PER to CGK to originate there, then: CGK-HKG-LAX-YVR-ORD-YYZ-JFK-LHR-CAI-JNB-PER-BME-PER-SYD-ADL Does this work/allowable? I am keen to maximise miles but only have 3 weeks excluding the Australian legs and have to get 2 weeks off work in there. The non-negotiables are: YVR, YYZ, LHR, CAI, JNB Is there a way to do Syd and Broome and still get back to Perth which is home? Any help or thoughts most appreciated. Thanks Paul |

CAI-LHR-JNB is an alternative. 4) There is no YVR-ORD direct flight. YVR-DFW-ORD is an alternative. 5) JNB-PER is operated by SA. I can not find QF flight in currect timetable. But, someone help finding QF metal flight. CGK-HKG-LAX-DFW-YVR-DFW-ORD-YYZ-JFK-LHR-CAI-LHR-JNB-SYD-....-ADL-PER-CGK |
You could also fly YVR-JFK(CX)-YYZ but the JFK-YYZ would be in Y only on an Eagle flight.
Or YVR-JFK(CX);LGA-YYZ which is AA mainline. Or YVR-DFW-YYZ |

Another possibility would be CGK-HKG-JFK-YVR-DFW-YYZ-LGA-MIA-LHR..., increasing your miles and using the N. America transcon. Several riffs possible on this theme.
While not trying to change your itinerary aribtrarily, if you're traveling to CGK in order to save money on the ticket, be advised that the price for a DONE5 ex-Indonesia is now about USD200 higher than an ex-OZ DONE4, or USD500 higher than an ex-NZ DONE4. If I remember the rules correctly, you can end any Oz/NZ xONEx in the other country with no penalty, so if you started in NZ you could end in Oz (and have your 2 continent-of-origin stopovers still allowed) with the rest of a year to use the final segments. If mileage is a big deal, you'd need to think about mileage augmentation - maybe another longhaul pair in Europe (MAD-CAI and then LHR-DXB?) to compensate for the loss of the CGK-HKG miles. Dunno. EDITED TO ADD: No, I didn't remember the rules correctly. You have to end in Oz if you start there, ditto NZ. Don't know the price from PER to NZ and back or how it compares with PER-CGK. |
No JNB-PER flight, saa used to codeshare with qantas since joining star that has fallen away.
It is on SAA metal that flight. |
Qantas continues to codeshare on SAA's PER-JNB-PER (QF 303/4) and South African codeshares on SYD-JNB-SYD (SA7701/SA7700). IIRC, the only change in the relationship between QF & SAA, has been that Qantas has left SAA Voyager FF program.
But you're right about the last part as I believe PER-JNB-PER may not be included on a *0NE*... (Same with flights on Air Pacific, Air Tahiti Nui right?) Cheers |

Cheers Code:
50N . 1. APPLIES TO FIRST CLASS, BUSINESS CLASS AND |
Thanks
Thanks for all the great advice. I've dropped CAI and decided on DONE4 out of Aus.
Does the following look ok? MEL-LAX-YYZ-DFW-YVR-LHR-JNB-SYD-PER-ADL-PER-ADL I'm looking to experience the best of business class if I can, so any tips on which flights/carrier appreciated (I realsie there's not a lot of choice on most)and also looking to accrue to AA, are these all OK for that? |
The routing looks OK (although a shocking waste of a ticket valid for 20 segments), but...

I'm looking to experience the best of business class if I can... Of course you'd still be leaving 6 segments on the table, some of which could be okay for mileage - JNB-MRU-JNB for example, or LHR-DXB-LHR etc. Your call. Edited to add - BTW, about AUD675 cheaper if bought/begun in NZ, but obviously fewer Oz segments. |

CX Question?
Thanks again for the further info. I need to depart on 27th November so I'm not sure I can utilise the SFO-YVR flight (dammit) unless they are already operating the winter service by then (I think it starts 1 Dec).
Now the CX transcon flight to JFK. I was under the impression you had to be inbound from HKG and transitting only in YVR to be able to catch that - am I wrong? I know I'm leaving segments on the table - I'm gutted! But the reality is I have to fit about 4 weeks work into the 3 weeks I'm away and much as I'd love to make a few MR's - I'm also keen to have a job when I get back. I have to do it again in 6months so hopefully a bit more time to plan. The reality however is that my work is all Canada and (South) Africa at the moment and OneWorld is so limited to both of those that I might (insert swear and curse here) have to consider StarAlliance. |
For the best of NA business class (such as it is), along with all the cities you listed, how about:
-SYD-JFK-YVR-SFO-DFW-YYZ-LHR- |
